Hello MFL! After further research it seems that Kitchenaid does not provide a model K8B50B3, the closest model we could locate is a model KSB5OB3. The drive coupling is part number WP9704230. Thanks!

Jeff S. for Model Number KitchenAid KSB5CR4

Hello, We purchased the couple suggested (item #12) in the schematic. Our old one broke apart when we tried to crush ice. The coupler has threads but the metal piece attached to the base does not. On the base where you screw the coupler on, there is a nipple-like piece coming out and there is a circular metal piece at the top of the nipple (it seems to be welded to it). The circular metal piece has 6 little holes in it. I think the coupler suggested is not the right one.

Hello Jeff. Based on the model number you provided, WP9704230 is the correct coupler. It sounds like the plastic part of the coupler on the top has broken and came off. Take the new coupling and see if it fits the jar correctly. If so, then the plastic part is gone and you have the metal base left over on the coupling shaft. You will need to remove this and install the new coupling. Hope this helps.
