Linda January 19, 2014 for Model Number Part #9704230 The coupler totally ripped apart on my blender. I easily removed the black coupler, but there are no threads on the remaining metal stem to screw the new coupler on to. If I am to pry up that metal piece that is left behind (after the black plastic is removed), it seems like I'll be ruining it? But the metal stem there has NO threads at all. Is this part of the old coupler mechanism and needs to be removed too? Thanks!
1 Answer Linda, The coupler should not just lift off of the shaft. If the coupler just lifted off you will need to try to get the metal piece unscrewed. This would be the only way to do it without ruining the motor shaft. Read More...
Sak. December 30, 2013 for Model Number KSB5WW3Do you have a drive coupler available for this model. Do you have a drive coupler for this model. also do you have to remove the round metal disc that was remaining after the plastic drive coupler broke in to many pieces? Thankyou for your help.
1 Answer SAK, The correct part number for the drive coupler is WP9704230 it's pretty common to most if not all WP blenders. Yes you will need to remove the metal disc from the motor shaft in order to replace and install the replacement coupler. In your case, you'll probably have to remove the lower base panel, hold the motor armature in position and turn the remainder of the coupler ( metal disc) clockwise to remove. The drive shaft and coupler have "reversed" threads so the coupler tightens as the motor spins. Read More...
