Michael September 07, 2014 for Model Number KHMS155LBL3 My wife was using the light and the fan and was cooking on the stove top last night. She went to start the microwave to cook a vegetable, and got a “poof” sound and the unit shutdown. I unplugged the unit and then reset the circuit breaker. The breaker did not seem tripped however. I then plugged it back in and the fan started running. Now the fan runs continuously and can only be stopped by unplugging the microwave. It is unresponsive to the key pad. Other aspects seem to function normally and we did run it to cook the vegetable for a few minutes. I also checked for exhaust obstructions and found none. I know the unit has some sensor for heat and turns on the fan to protect the microwave from excessive heat. However there was no reason for it to have gone into this state as best I can tell. I unplugged it last night and when re-plugging it in this morning the fan starts right up. Appreciate clues as to where to start with this problem.
1 Answer Hello Michael. You need to check the door switches on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Dave-O February 02, 2014 for Model Number KHMS145JBT Are there schematics for how to remove the top front grill? I want to check the fuse per your first question but can't figure out how to get this off!
1 Answer Hello Dave-O. no, there is no instructions for the removal of the grille. However, there should be screws in the top you remove to remove the grille from the microwave of the unit. Read More...
Chris September 23, 2013 for Model Number KHMS155LSS-0 Woke up this morning and nothing works. Power is good at the plug, so I am not sure what happened . Zero power . Any help would be great. THX
1 Answer Chris, You will need to unplug the power cord, remove the upper vent grille then remove the screw holding the control panel to the microwave front panel, and lower the panel. You'll need to check the in line fuse W11707984 and the magnetron thermostat 4393943 for "closed" circuits with a meter and replace which ever part is "open". If either part has an open circuit, power to the control board is eliminated, and the microwave is inoperable/ "dead". Read More...
Tony April 17, 2013 for Model Number KHMS145JBT-0 Hello, I have a Kitchenaid KHMS145JBT0 that stopped working. Lights and fan work but seems to click a few times after you try to cook. Turntable or power doesn't seem to come on but the light does. I ran the test and all 8 came up except Easy Simmer came up with Hm 574. Would I need to replace the computer control board, touch pad or maybe the magnetron? Thanks, Tony
1 Answer Hello Tony, You should test the humidity sensor. This is the code that showed up on simmer. If it tests good, you need to test for 120Vac on the PRIMARY side of the high voltage transformer with the unit turned on. If the 120Vac is not there, the board is the most likely cause of the failure. If it is there, you should remove the unit from the electrical power supply, discharge the high voltage capacitor, and test the high voltage transformer as per the tech sheet. Read More...

Carol F. March 12, 2013 for Model Number KitchAid Microwave Model# KHMS155LBL3 I ran the test & all the buttons showed 8 except the simmer which ran a code of HM 553 when pressed. Do you still think I need a new control panel?
1 Answer Hello Carol. Yes, it is not an issue of a button not working, but the issue is a stuck button. Replace the panel. Read More...
Carol F. March 12, 2013 for Model Number KitchenAid Microwave #KHMS155LBL3 At first the microwave would go to lock by itself, after unplugging it & re-plugging to the outlet the problem went away. Now it turns itself on flashes PAN runs a few seconds stops & repeats the sequence. I keep it unplugged unless in usage & it still cooks & heats but I am afraid to leave to plugged in for any length of time. Do I need a new control panel? What do you suggest?
1 Answer Hello Carol. Based on the information you provided, you need to order and replace the control panel on the unit. Read More...
Jeff June 14, 2012 for Model Number KHMS155LSS-4 Our Kitchenaid Microwave comes on by itself and will not shut off unless it is unplugged. No diagnostic code comes up. Should I replace the key pad assembly or the microcomputer?
1 Answer Hello Jeff, This sounds like one of the three door switches 8206566 have failed. The interlock 8205572, (door switch mounting assembly), could have been broken if the door was slammed or the plastic became heat stressed. Read More...
Kevin May 08, 2012 for Model Number khms 145 jbl 0 The microwave wont warm food up ever since I replaced the plastic push button panel and the plastic door cover. Is there a way to test the circuit board to see if I broke it before I buy one.
1 Answer Hello Kevin. Check and make sure there are no loose wires on the unit and that nothing got unplugged while doing the install. Also, make sure the door switches on the unit are hooked up correctly and working correctly. One loose wire will cause this issue. Read More...
