The Spark Module is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ranges. It is an electrical component that generates the spark needed to ignite the gas burners. By sparking consistently and reliably, the module allows the cooktop burners to ignite with each use.

Causes of a bad spark module can include normal wear and tear over time, exposure to moisture or residue, or issues with the electronic components that produce the spark.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

Burners that will not ignite or light consistently
Burners that ignite but then immediately go out
Only some of the burners lighting while others do not
A clicking sound coming from the ignitors but no visible spark

Note: For harness from spark module to igniters use part number 9756892.

David, although the part looks a little different, the location and procedure is about the same. This control is located on the right side of the console if you are looking at if from the back, either take picture of where each wire goes or change out the wires one at a time.

When I turn the oven on I hear the spark of the igniter then the gas ignites but it only stays lit for a second or two then it turns off. I replaced the ignition module with no change but the surface burners ignite quicker then ever before. Is there a flame sensor for the oven and broiler burners?

Jim, For a proper diagnosis, we would need you to please verify the model number from the units' I.D. tag since it will not come up for us as a valid model number.

I am having trouble with my whirlpool accubake, model WFG374LVQ1. The range burners light without fail. My oven\broiler will spark, but so slow that the burner will not light. But the problem is intermittent. The oven may light but when it is time to reheat, the spark is so slow that it will shut down gas and attempt again after several seconds with the same result. And then it will not attempt anymore. I am not getting any error codes.

Stove top burners and broiler ignite fine. Oven/Bake wont ignite. Can smell the gas is flowing but just wont ignite. I hear clicking like it is trying to light but dont see any spark. Would this be the oven ignitor or the spark module? Thank You.

Mike, If there is gas flowing but no spark check the wiring to the igniter and if it is ok then this will most likely be a faulty igniter.

Just did a conversion to propane. Stove worked fine, but oven flame was a little high. In adjusting the air shutter valve, there was a spark and the stove made a buzzing sound. After that there was no spark in oven or top burners. Have replaced the direct spark ignition board. Now igniters work, but the oven and broiler light and the flame goes out right away. Top burners light fine. Could I have a faulty dsi board? Can I test it? Or could it be another part? Also, every time stove is plugged back in the PF code is on and the stovetop it in lock out mode. I can unlock and the PF goes away as soon as a button is pushed. Is that normal?

Joe, If the unit is sparking but no lighting then it sounds likely that the oven safety valve would be the issue. The oven safety valve will be part number WPW10293048.

My oven will not light. The bake and broiler igniters both have spark. The range burners work fine. I checked the ohms from the common to bake and broil terminals on the gas valve, and it was correct. I am getting 3-5VDC at the gas valve and if I pull the wires I get 27VDC. I am thinking it is a faulty spark module just looking for a second opinion.

Hello Mark, This is going to be either a bad oven control WP6610460 or a failed spark module WPW10331686. If you read 120Vac at terminal J1-6, the spark module has failed. If there is no voltage at this terminal, the issue will be the control board.
