The Oven Bake Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. This crucial component is located at the bottom of the oven cavity and is responsible for providing the heat needed for baking. The bake element converts electrical energy into heat, which is then distributed throughout the oven to cook food evenly.

Common causes of a bad bake element include excessive use, accidental damage during cleaning, or a power surge that can burn out the element.

Symptoms of a bad Oven Bake Element include:

  • The oven not heating up to the set temperature.
  • Visible damage to the element, such as blistering, cracks, or breaks.
  • Lack of heat when the oven is turned on
  • An increase in cooking times

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Oven Bake Element (Part Number: OEM9287496)

Paul N. for Model Number RDE1300Y

I am looking for a lower (bake) heating element for this oven. It is a Whirlpool wall oven, approx. 22 inches wide. The model number on the plate inside the door state it is a model RDE1300Y; this number can be read clearly. I cannot find any reference to an oven with this model number anywhere I have looked. The element it uses is 14 inches wide, and 15 inches deep, from the front of the element back to the mounting tabs. It has two metal "feet" on the front crossbar. It uses push-on terminals to connect the wiring, and is held in by one screw on each mounting tab. It is square in shape, and steps in about 1" on each side at the mounting tabs.

Brenda, You probably don't need either element. The issue is most likely in the oven selector switch 310866 or a loose or damaged wire. On the bake setting, the selector switch provides 120 VAC to the broil element to maintain an even bake temperature and browning to the articles in the oven. The switch is the likely issue since the bake and broil elements work in normal settings.
