Hanno April 19, 2020 for Model Number RJRS4870D I had the same issue as others are describing with the pan drip W10199915 and replaced it. What's happening now is that I still get ice build-up and water dripping in the back of the freezer which creates the annoying problem that it starts blocking the fan. I looked and the plastic outlet tube is installed correctly with the U-bend below and the end of the tube pointing up. It seems that there used to be water in the U-bend but it's dry now. Not sure how to fix this.
1 Answer Hello Hanno, the manufacturer has discontinued this ref model long ago, the drain pan kit has gone thru several revisions, the current one is the last one, when being installed care needs to be taken that the drain tube has the water trap aligned correctly, the entry point in the cabinet to the drain pan is sealed so there is no air leakage back into the freezer area. There are 2 heaters ,one under the foil pan and one on the elbow, they can be tested with a multimeter, if either shows an open circuit, order a new drain pan kit. Read More...
Todd October 06, 2016 for Model Number EF48BDCBSS Here we go again. Did they ever redesign this drain pan/heater kit? I am on my 4th drain pan in 10 years with this $7,000.00 Dacor refrigerator. I believe this is a poor design. I had 2 replaced under the extended warranty I purchased by the local Dacor repair rep. Funny thing is, it was leaking water just like everyone else is having issues with and he told me a heater failed and he would replace it with a new one. He returned a week or so later and started replacing it. I pulled out my Fluke 87 meter and checked the old pan to the new pan and both heaters ohmed out the same at 1.3k. I asked him what the deal was and he told me that they (Dacor) are also having him unplug a thermistor on the evaporator and I think he said it keeps the heater energized longer. He admitted that there was not a problem with the pan. I had to replace the pan he installed 2 or 3 years later in June of 2014 along with the defrost thermostat and a few weeks ago that one started leaking again. I just finished pulling it out to check and both heaters are at 1.3k just like they were new. I'm finding that the water is leaking through the pan near where the outlet tube is and I'm thinking all the other pans were doing the same. I hate to drop another few hundred bucks on a new one if they didn't change the design. Thanks, Todd
1 Answer Todd, The original part has been redesigned and supplied a new part number of W10199915. Unfortunately we do not have information on what changes may have been made to the part. Read More...
Ran August 17, 2015 for Model Number JS48SEDBFA We are having a lot of ice form in the freezer and water dripping in the fridge from the top. I notice after we'd had new floors installed that the fridge is slightly off level, leaning backward slightingly could this cause the problem or do we need a new drip pan assembly? How can I test our current part to see if it is working?
1 Answer Hello Ran. Yes, based on the information you provided, the drip pan W10199915 will need to be replaced. The test is looking up on the top of the freezer and see if water is there. If so, it is bad. Read More...
Randall December 31, 2014 for Model Number JS48SEDBDA Heater in drip pan has stopped working, ordered a new one, is it possible to check if it is heating coil (coiled wire around drain pan) or power coming from plug? Thank you Randall
1 Answer Hello Randall, When this pan freezes up the manufacturer recommends to simply replace it. They give no readings for a proper test. Also, the clear hose needs an "X" cut in the lowest point of this clear drain hose since it has issues with freezing. This will allow the water to slowly leak out without introducing air into the hose. This, by the way, is advised by the manufacturers' technical assistance line. Read More...
Craig F July 01, 2014 for Model Number Part# W10199915 Do complete instructions come with this pan drip? i.e., which side of the refrigerator to approach the job on - Does the refrigerator need to come out of the cabinet to access from the back?
1 Answer Craig, The instructions for the drip pan do come with the part. The part would not be accessed from the rear of the unit but from the front and from inside the freezer compartment. Read More...
Steve February 02, 2014 for Model Number JS48SEDBDA I recently purchased a new damper because my damper failed when I ran the test. I was able to open it during the test, but it didn't move or make noise when I ran the close test. The new damper is doing the same thing. It opens, but doesn't close. What else could be the problem. What other part can be related to this problem. My original problem was that the refrigerator would get super cold. Way below my set temperature while my freezer would get to the correct temperature, but would warm up and cool back down to set temp.
1 Answer Hello Steve. You will need to check all the wiring to the damper and if it is good, replace the board that powers the damper in the unit. Read More...
Kevin November 03, 2013 for Model Number Jenn-Air JS48SEFXDA Hi, I replaced W10199915 (drip pan) about 3 months ago and now the same problem came back (water leaking and ice buildup). The only thing I did when I installed this that was probably different from the instructions was that I had the polyethylene drain tube installed so the end of the tube (on the compressor side) was pointing down instead of up, so there is not a liquid seal in the "U" shape. Could this be the cause for my problem? Also can I reuse the drip pan or I should purchase a new one? Thanks!
1 Answer Kevin, Yes, the improper orientation of the drain tube could be the issue " Make sure the clear polyethylene drain tube is oriented correctly in the moistral pan, per drawing shown. The “u” shape should not be upside down and oriented to have a liquid seal in the “u.” " Without the water seal, hot air from the compressor can circulate, and enter the drain tube and create excess ice and frost in the evaporator area. We wouldn't expect you to need any parts but you do want to test the heater resistances to make sure they haven't been damaged, and make sure you completely de ice and defrost all the components, then install the drain tube properly. Kevin B. October 14, 2012 for Model Number JS48SEDBDA Is part number W10199915 a drip pan heater? The description says it's a drip pan and doesn't mention a heater. Also, can this be installed by a very handy DIY'er?

Kevin B. October 14, 2012 for Model Number JS48SEDBDA Is part number W10199915 intended as a "fix" for a problem? My freezer side seems to have an issue with icicles now so I looked and found another person with a similar issue and one suggestion was to purchase this part.
1 Answer Hello Kevin, There was a serious issue caused by the defrost pan assembly. As long as the unit is properly leveled, the part W10199915 will probably correct the issue. Just make sure all of the screws are re-installed as they are hard to line back up. Without all of the screws, the icicles will persist and most likely become worse. Also make sure no water can stand in the clear tube. Water standing in the tube contribute to the issue in addition to causing other issues such as water in the floor. Read More...
