For Whirlpool Control Panel (Part Number: OEM17955339)

Amy for Model Number MDB7609AWS2

I have a maytag model MDB7609AWS2 - The only thing that would come on the button panel outside of it was the "heated dry" The start or wash size like normal light heavy nothing else would work. It would not start. I tried the reset, and tried cutting the breaker on and off and nothing happened. We had been out of town and came back to find the breaker to it had tripped not sure what could have caused it because the power had not gone off. Can you help me know if this part or something else is what I need in order to fix this?

1 Answer

Amy, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control panel that would need to be replaced.

CM, based on the information provided, it sounds like the keypad W10811155 has failed. This can be verified by testing the keypad ribbon for continuity from pin 12 to pin 4 while pressing the start button (power supply to the dishwasher must be turned off). If there is not continuity, the panel has failed. If there is continuity, the main control W11202746 has failed.

Robert, Remove the control panel and release the control board and check the green membrane under the control. If there is black or dark debris inside the membrane harness then replace the control panel. example for black panel is W10811155

Hi, I need a front panel control in black plastic. The standoffs for the mounting screws broke off in a couple of places. My panel says W10199661 in raised lettering but you claim that the part number is W108115. I see nothing that says this is the replacement part number for my part number of W10199661. Your extra actual images of the part show the proper number of buttons but other sites show 12 buttons in the control diagram and that is all wrong. How can I be sure I am getting a real W 1 0 19 9 6 6 1 part with the proper number of switches and in black? Background. Other sites quote totally different numbers but only your actual images look right to me. Yours and their exploded parts view both show 12 touch switches. ??? Please make it clear to us that the parts diagram, not the actual images, is not right. Stefan

Michel, Other than the color of the parts there would be no difference between them. Unfortunately, the manufacturer is the one that sets the suggested retail prices for the parts.

John for Model Number MDBH979AWS3

Was thinking I have a control board issue but might actually be the control panel the more I read the other questions. What I am seeing is that the start button is not working with me pressing. When I do the reset the dishwasher automatically starts and runs a short quick cycle. The wash light does not light up at all and the only way for it to work is doing the reset every time which only is not a complete wash cycle. What is your thoughts on it being the board or the panel. Hate to spend the money on a new dishwasher when it might be something simple.

1 Answer

John, based on the unit automatically starting on its own when it is reset, the most likely issue is that you have a stuck start key on the panel assembly [W10811155].

Jacl, replacing the control panel W10811156 is a relatively easy repair Takes about 15 - 20 minutes to perform the repair. Remove power to the dishwasher, open the door remove the 6 screws around the top of the inner door panel( you may prefer to remove all the screws and front panel, so you don't damage or scratch it, remove the panel, transfer the control board and other parts to the new control panel and reverse the process.

Hello Larry. You will need to replace the control panel. As for the run time, you will need to make sure the unit is heating properly and see if the sensor WPW10705575 is bad.
