Hello Richard. If you manually drain the unit and it works, but does not during a normal cycle, It sounds like the control board W11202746 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Lights come on except start button does not do anything. I ordered a new circuit board and installed it but still didn't start. Unplugged new circuit board and re connected and then machine worked correctly for two loads, and then back to the original no start problem. I have correct voltage to circuit board and door switch works correctly, and fuse on circuit board is ok. The hi-temp light, heated dry, and sanitize lights all work. I can hear the start button click on and off but does not start anything.

Larry, The most likely cause for this issue would be in the control panel which is part number W10811155. Most likely the circuit for the start is bad.

I have a Maytag dishwasher model mdbh979aws3. The dishwasher will not start when I press the start button. If I do the "secret service code" sequence: Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal, all the lights turn on and a few seconds later, the dishwasher starts and runs for about 15 minutes (which seems shorter than a regular cycle). Based on some research it seems I may need a new control panel? Does this seem correct? The dishwasher front panel is black. Is this the right part number for the control panel: AP4434653? Thanks.

1 Answer

David, When you program the ""secret service code" sequence, the dishwasher control will run a short cycle, test all the components and reset the control board to factory settings. A 10 or 15 minute cycle is normal for the test mode. Yes, the more likely issue is the control panel/keypad assembly, the correct part number for your model number is W10811155 / W10254846.

Hi, Seems we are victims of the common problem of Maytag dishwasher touch panel failure. Started by not being able to press "Start", now only the lights on the right side work, left side and center you can clearly see water inside the panel buttons membrane. Only a couple of years old. My question is the ribbon connector from the touch panel. It appears to be directly soldered to our control circuit box (inside the door), but I did not yank on it to be certain. It seems to be the case on this replacement panel, which in appearance matches ours exactly, that it would slip on to a multi-pin connector. Want to verify that is actually the way these connect before purchasing, do not want to be de/resoldering anything. Thanks for any info.

1 Answer

Dan, The touchpad ribbon connector does "plug" onto the pins of the control board connector W11202746. You will not need to de solder or re solder anything. You do want to be careful when you unplug and plug the ribbon connection from the control board, you don't want to bend or break a pin. Take your time and be careful and you'll do fine.

Hello Rex, This sounds like a connection issue. Dis-continue the power supply to the unit and remove the kickpanel and open the terminal box cover. Check the wire nut connections for loose and/or melted wire nuts. If no problem is found here, open the door liner and check the door switches.
