Ruth for Model Number ADB1500WW3

This unit is 5+ years old. It has occasionally had this problem where the lights on the buttons of the keypad of the control panel do not light up. Some of them will, arbitrarily, but yesterday it would not start at all even though some of the buttons would still light. Seems the lights don't mean it is changing. Is it worth changing the whole control panel at it's age, or should we just get a new one? If you think it's worth changing, are the directions fairly simple? Everything else is in great shape (no rust or anything) thanks, Ruth

Ruth, You're pretty much on target, The 6-919800 Control panel/keypad assembly is the most likely issue. It is a relatively easy repair to make using basic tools and a few minutes (15 to 30 minutes) of your time. Your dishwasher is half way through the normal life expectancy of the product, so it may be worth the time and effort to repair, especially if " Everything else is in great shape".

Hi Hajo. The time line must be from the years you said but now it's 2012' and I'm slightly confused. None the less the issue with loosing power can be a simple fix. Remove the power. Remove the lower kick panel and use a flashlight. Look at the rear tub legs, are they completely down ? If not a full load drying w/heated dry selected ( a normal cycle) it will flex the tub and allow the front door assy along with the door latch to cock sideways and cause issues. Then after a period of time the door latch part # WPW10275768 with switches will break over and over. Look also at the striker part # WPW10119337. Look from the top view and gently see if the door latch and striker align and accept one another easily as designed. Open and close it a few times to observe it. Remove the inner door panel by removing the 12 - T-20 torx screws. Look at the door latch and the inner side of the control panel where the control panel and latch pivots. Are the bosses broken off the back side of the control panel so they do not align correctly ? Is the ribbon contacts from the control board part # 6-919800 kinked or ripped ? Remove the ribbon cable at the control board end. Was it fully inserted ? Use an eraser tip on the ribbon cable ends to clear any build up not allowing the correct contacts to the control board. This may help. Use the supplied user tech. sheet (in the kick plate or by the control board) to put the unit in a service diagnostic mode to see if any fault codes appear. It will show you the circuit to be further diagnosed. I would use the digital capacitor Tester / Volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1. Thank You.

I have the above dishwasher that will not start. LED's on the control panel are very dim, and when looking at the control panel, it looks like several runs on the ribbon cable are burnt. I'm thinking I need the new control panel with ribbon cable. Does this sound reasonable? I also need to know the part number for the control panel in off-white biscuit color, not pure white? Can you tell me the part number and if it does not change or fix the problem if I can return the part. Thanks

Hello Glenn. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the biscuit control panel 6-919800 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

Hi Kirk. This is a relatively easy replaced part. Remove power. Then remove all screws from the back of the control panel back. The panel should fold forward towards you . Then remove the door latch and the control board mount, and replace on the back of the panel assy. Make sure you insert the ribbon cable of the new keypad very tight. This is part #6-919800. Thank you.
