Lisa November 20, 2012 My dishwasher is flashing "20" for about 1 min. then it stops and the Insta clean light is on at the same time. None of the buttons work when I try to push them, not even to do the tests that the manual suggests doing. i have opened the panel and the box that holds the control pad and tried to secure the wires and the electic belt looking thing, but it didn't resolve anything. Still flashed 20 and then stopped. Will I have to replace the green control board or the entire top panel with the buttons on it?
1 Answer Lisa, You're on target, The keypad assembly on the control panel has failed. You'll want to start by replacing the control panel keypad assembly 6-919822 and re run the test modes after the new part is installed. Read More...
Kim November 19, 2012 for Model Number mdb6601aws My dishwasher will not start. The panel lights with any of the options but the start button will not activate the cycle. Would replacing the control panel be the solution? Does the plastic clip to hold the ribbon cable in place come with the control panel? I have 20 guests for thanksgiving, no pressure here.
1 Answer Hello Kim. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel is bad on the unit. Check and make sure the door switches are good on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ken September 30, 2012 for Model Number MDB6701AWB How do I know whether it is this Control PANEL or the Control/Circuit BOARD that needs replacing? Here's my situation: We recently experienced an electrical surge or some type of brief electrical problem. It caused my computer to shut down; I don't recall what else. I only noticed later that the Control Panel on the dishwasher was completely dead. I checked the circuit breaker; it had not tripped. I am assuming that the power surge fried one or the other of the electrical components. How do I determine which one? Obviously, I would like to order the right part -- panel or board -- but not both if I don't need to replace both. Also: My model number is MDB6701AWB. All of your posted models have one or two numbers following the "B." The model number on the sticker on my dishwasher definitely ends at the B with no extra digits. How do I reconcile this difference and order the correct part? Thanks.
1 Answer Ken, Your first check needs to be at the junction box on the frame of the dishwasher, behind the kickplate and lower access panel. Check and make sure there are no loose connections or damaged wires in the box. Then you'll need to remove the inner door liner and control panel, to access and check the two door switches, and wiring, there. If all appears and checks OK. You'll need to activate the door switches and check for voltage between black pin # And white pin #4 and white pin#3 and black pin#3. If the voltage checks are proper, then you'll need the control board WPW10218837 . Thanks Read More...
Fritz July 25, 2012 for Model Number MDB6601AWW Clock/timer LCD no longer works, cycles dont run right (normal wash often stops after initial rinse), touch pad gives bogus lights, etc. Sounds like I need to change the touch pad, but do any additional electronics need replacing?
1 Answer Hello Fritz. No, if everything else is working fine, you will need to order and replace the control panel 6-919822 in the unit. Read More...
Xavier July 23, 2012 for Model Number 6-919824 Our machine stopped working because the metal stripes on the connector started to peel off (corrosion?). The panel then started flickering and eventually stopped working. It seems that this series had this problem all around. Will this part have the same issue? What has your experience been with this replacement? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Xavier, In my experience, corrosion is caused by exposure to moisture. Either the vent seal WP99003222 has failed, was mis-installed, or a part that it seals against, 6-919822, or WPW10190890, is mal-formed or mis-installed. Read More...
Kathleen June 26, 2012 for Model Number Model # is MDB6601AWB, serial # 37136642LE, Quiet Series 300 Model # is MDB6601AWB, serial # 37136642LE, Quiet Series 300. I came here via a search engine, because you had one of the best prices around on this part. I see in above thread that you indicated 3 different model numbers depending on color. Will any of these colors work on my unit? It is a black unit, but I truly don't care about matching color at the moment, and the price of the white is much more affordable for me. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Kathleen! Yes, either color control panel will work on your unit. The black control panel is part number 6-919822, the white control panel is part number 6-919822, and the bisque control panel is part number 6-919822. Thanks! Read More...
Andy March 15, 2012 for Model Number MDB6601AWB The only button that seems to work when pushed is the insta wash. All others appear to do nothing. How do I know the control panel is my problem?
1 Answer Hello Andy. It sounds like the control panel 6-919822 is bad on the unit. There should be a tech sheet behind the toe panel to help you check the ribbon cable. When removed, if you test across J1 pins 9 and 6, press the start button and the contact should close. If not, replace the control panel. Also, make sure the ribbon cable is clean and dry with no moisture. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Alex March 06, 2012 for Model Number Maytag quite series 300 do I need to take off the whole back panel on the door to install this part and how hard is it going to be to connect that ribbon?
1 Answer Hello Alex. The door panel will have to be completely removed to replace the control panel but this isn't a complicated repair. Just remember to discontinue power to the unit before dis-assembly. And to answer your second question, the ribbon cable is easy to disconnect and reconnect. Hope you found this useful! Read More...
Sue October 31, 2011 for Model Number MDB6601AWW Control panel started flickering , then eventually stopped lighting up at all. Dishwasher cannot be turned on. Do I have to replace the whole section that the cycle select panel is on or can I just replace that section? It peels off from door and the ribbon comes unplugged. Seems like it would be so much cheaper than replacing that whole section, which looks like it costs around $150. My dishwasher is only 3 yrs old. Doesn't seem like it should have broke already.
1 Answer Hello Sue. You will need to order the control panel assembly 6-919822. The manufacture does not offer just the overlay for the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
