Susan for Model Number Maytag MDB7601aws

I just received and replaced the control panel on my Maytag MDB7601aws. I am not sure if I have the ribbons correctly installed because the small blue ribbon came off while I was unscrewing the other hex screws. I am not sure where the white ribbon goes on the bottom of the black box. After getting it all back together the dishwasher will only work with a rinse cycle. Is this due to the ribbons not correctly installed or is this a bigger issue.

1 Answer

Susan, The ribbon harness can only go in one position on the control board. You will want to make sure that the ribbon harnesses have good connections. If this checks ok then the control board would be the issue.

Juan, The membrane switch would not be able to be remanufactured due to nature of how it is designed as a sheet rather than a board.

Wayne for Model Number MDB9601AWW

My dish washer has a problem with the start/cancel button. The lights for the start and delay seemed to be fading at first. Later they only displayed across the lower half of the display. While the lights for the individual wash cycles seem to work fine, sometimes the dishwasher would sometime not want to start (and I could not cancel the cycle either). After a half an hour playing with the buttons, it would start. It now does not want to start at all (individual lights for wash cycles still works fine. Is it a problem with the control panel or control board or both?

Dylan, If the part is not showing for your unit then it will not work. The units may have differences that we are not aware of, possibly a different feature or the way the wiring connects through it.

Bill, The power surge, most likely caused the control board to "scramble" and become inoperative " F1E1 EEPROM checksum failure SUGGESTED CORRECTIVE ACTION PROCEDURE 1. Unplug range or disconnect power longer than 30 seconds. 2. Plug in range or reconnect power. 3. Observe for longer than 1 minute. 4. If failure remains, go to step 5. 5. Unplug range or disconnect power. 6. Replace control" Unfortunately, the control board WP4453710 is no longer available from the manufacturer. Hello Ed, Since you didn't list a model number I can't send you any illustrations, but looking at the control panel, it does not twist. The ribbon cable should lay flat and double back up to the control.

Hello Curt, To replace the control panel 6-919825, first disconnect power to unit. Once power is disconnected then you would want to remove the torx head screws around the inner perimeter door. Once the screws are removed then you will lift the inner door panel. With inner door panel lifted look for the 1/4" screws that hold the control panel in place. Remove control board and latch assembly, remove control panel and put new panel on and reinstall.
