Larry October 25, 2020 for Model Number Whirlpool Model:WRX986SIHV00 I recently had RO installed. When I remove the water filter the change water filter light stays on. How do I get the light to turn off? I'm unable to find a bypass plug for the EveryDrop 2 filter.
1 Answer Larry, the manufacturer does not show a bypass plug for your model. The filter indicator light will illuminate showing that a filter is not installed or that it is time to change the filter. As the filter has been removed, the control will continue to illuminate showing that there is not one installed in the housing. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not show a way of getting the light to stay off. Read More...
Clinton October 22, 2020 for Model Number WRS325FDAB06 Does this model need bypass filter? I moved into a house that has whole home filter. I cant find this part. Thank u.
1 Answer Clinton, Your model should still allow water to flow if the filter is removed without using a bypass. They designed it this way so no bypass plug is needed. Read More...

Evelyn September 09, 2020 for Model Number WRF535SWHZ04 We just got our fridge today and are trying to remove the by pass cap so we can put the filter in and we got it to turn but we can't get the cap out, can you help?
1 Answer Hello Evelyn, sometimes when new the filter head seals are tight, if you have turned the plug to the unlock position you would just need to pull it out, it seems that it will absolutely not pull out without breaking something, you may want to call for service to the manufacturer's cust service and ask if this is covered under the terms of the first year warranty. Terry September 09, 2020 for Model Number ED5PBEXTQ00 I am trying to find out why my frig makes a loud noise when dispensing water and ice cubes are not coming out fully formed. I was wondering if I could run it without the filter or do I need a filter bypass cap? Thanks!
1 Answer Terry, your refrigerator does not need a "bypass cap" Just remove the filter and install the water filter cap. The filter housing has an "automatic" bypass system that will allow the water to flow through the system with the filter removed. If the water filter is clean or new, the more likely issue would be a "clogged fill valve or low water pressure to the refrigerator valve connection from the cold water supply. Read More...
Tony August 31, 2020 for Model Number ed5kvexvb03 I’m trying to change the water filter in my Whirlpool side by side and after researching, I realized that I need the Everydrop 3 filter. These filters absolutely will not work! I have tried 3 new filters and have no water flow with the new filter installed. Water flow is good with the old filter, which is the original blue PUR filter. From reading reviews on these filters, it seems to be a common problem since they switched to Everydrop. Is there another brand filter I can use? Also, can I use the water and ice dispenser without a filter?
1 Answer Hello Tony, the model you have does not require a filter bypass if no filter is used. The manufacturer recommended filter replacement is the EVERY DROP type, as a suggestion the filter housing WPW10121138 may be worn and not accepting the newer filters. Read More...
1 Answer Ruth, the filter should be able to be removed without the need for a bypass plug. Read More...
