This pulley is part of your appliance's belt-drive system. It provides a smooth, low-friction surface for the drive belt and helps keep it tracking correctly so the motor can transfer power reliably to the drum or tub.

  • Guides the drive belt and rotates freely to reduce friction and wear
  • Helps maintain proper belt alignment for consistent operation
  • Worn pulley symptoms can include squealing/squeaking, grinding or wobble, belt fraying or coming off, and little or no drum/tub movement
  • If noise or belt damage persists, inspect the belt, tensioner/idler components, and rollers/bearings
What's included: 1 pulley Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and, if applicable, shut off gas before servicing
  • Access the drive path and note belt routing before removal
  • Relieve belt tension, remove the old pulley, and transfer any spacers/retainers as needed
  • After installation, spin the pulley by hand to ensure smooth, quiet rotation; replace a worn belt at the same time

For Whirlpool Pulley (Drive Belt) (Part Number: OEM18039114)

Hi. Look at where the top of the main pulley against the top half of the outer tub area. Has the pulley worn a groove into the outer tub creating the smell? If so then this means that the outer tub part # 280255 bearing and the inner tub spider part # 8540342 shaft is worn out. Remove the top back screws. Slide the top back, up and off. Being able to smell the control panel, ccu main board part # WPW10525358 or the motor control board part # WPW10163007 has a lot to do with a diagnosis. Look at the EMI filter part# 8540342 where the cord connects just inside the unit to see if the connectors are tight. Thank you.
