Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM18060207)

1 Answer

Hello BR, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. If the issue is occurring near the beginning to the middle of the cycle it is likely the water inlet valve AP6987233 or the flow sensor built into the water inlet assembly AP7175478. If this is the case check to make sure that the unit seems to be filling properly, if it does the it is the water inlet assembly, if it is not filling then it is the valve. If the issue is occurring on the back half of the cycle it will be the drain pump AP6977699, the drain check valve AP7194835 allowing backflow into the tub, or improper drain hose installation/connection to the home. Check that the drain hose installation is correct according to the unit's installation instructions. You can also check the drain check valve by disconnecting the drain hose from where it connects to the home and pouring water in it to see if the tub starts to fill. If both of those are good then it is an issue within the drain pump.

Anuradha, if the water feed tube OEM28782246 does not have any cracks or obstructions, the most likely cause of failure would be the circulation pump OEM28774918.

Andy, The resistance should be between 15-25 ohms of resistance. That reading only tells you if the drain pump motor is operating correctly. The impeller part of the pump could be damaged and not moving water.

Roger, You can remove the screws and check the sump for blockages, if no blockages then the drain pump would be accessed from underneath.

Rover for Model Number MDB4409PAW0

Sometime after I ran the dishwasher, I found that it had stopped and was still full of clean water and the dishes appeared to be clean. From the time that elapsed, I figured that it stopped or didn't start during the final drain. None of the buttons appeared to work. No sound, no lights, nothing. I checked the circuit breaker. While the dishwasher was running, I detected a very strange chemical-like odor but no smoke. I figure that, if it were the capacitor, there would be a humming sound when the motor tried to start. No humming. If I replace the drain motor, would the new one come with its own capacitor? The dishwasher is 10 years old.

Hello Rover, I would first run the service diagnostics to see if there are any fault codes. This is explained on the tech sheet behind the kick panel. If no codes the issue could be the board W10804114.

Rex, All the complaints sound like a control board. That's the part telling the drain when to drain and determines wash times. If you manually hit the cancel drain and it will drain the water out then that part of the system is fine and its the control not doing its job.WPW10285180

Andy for Model Number 66513199K902

I have a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher (66513199k902). When the wash cycle finishes there is a substantial amount of water in the entire bottom of the dishwasher. Approximately a 1/2". When I hit the Cancel Drain button the water completely clears. I have replaced the electronic control board and the pump and the problem still occurs. When I hit the cancel drain button I can see the stream of water entering my garbage disposal from the dishwasher so the drain line does not appear to be blocked. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

1 Answer

Andy, This issue will most likely be with the water valve not fully shutting off and water flowing into the dishwasher when the unit finishes its cycle.

Andy, This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board since the drain pump does work.
