Av for Model Number Diswasher W10363081A DrainPump W10724439

Dishwasher is not draining. I removed the drain pump W10724439. It shows 41 ohms between its terminals. Is that the problem? The drain hose with flap is full of water and the flap is holding it - I think it is supposed to be that way. What else should I test before buying a pump? Thanks in advance. Av for Model Number Whirlpool W10500310 Original Question: ANSWER AV, a drain pump can be tested for incoming voltage when the unit is in operation and in a drain cycle to identify if there is a failure with voltage supply or the part itself. If the model number could be provided in a new question, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented.

1 Answer

AV, You will want to test to make sure that there is 120 Vac getting to the drain pump when the unit is in the drain cycle. If there is 120 Vac and not pumping and no clogs then the drain pump will be the issue. If there is not 120 Vac then the control board will be faulty.

Ed for Model Number WDT790SAYM1

Whirlpool dishwasher. Have replaced drain pump. Am going to replace inlet valve. Hoping these cover problem. Problem is that some water comes in (from the side) but apparently not enough or not forcefully enough. Soap drops and sits in bottom and does not dissolve, and water sits and will partially drain. After replacing pump, now the lower part partially spins and there appears to be more water going through but not fully clear. Soap still just drops and sits. Any other thoughts besides inlet valve? Thanks.

Ed sounds like two problems, not enough water and water that's not hot enough. Water supply from under the sink should be a 3/8 in. (IDI) copper tube or flex/plex water supply line and deliver 7 GPM at the dishwasher water inlet valve. The water temperature should be 120 dgrs.F. on the initial fill of a regular wash cycle and measure 1/2 to 3/4 in. deep in the center of the tub. Thanks,

Mas, When you initially start the dishwasher the drain pump should turn on in order to allow any excess water to be removed from the unit. You could test the pump at this state or by putting the unit into a service mode.

Vicki, For this issue, the drain pump would be the most likely choice unless there is water entering the unit when it is done draining. Check for water valve to be putting power into the unit.
