This is an ice maker recirculation pump assembly. This part includes a motor and pump that sends water from the reservoir over the top of the evaporator plate. This forms the slab of ice that will then drop onto the cutting grid to make ice cubes. In the event that the appliance is not making ice, it could be because this part has gone bad. Some users report the pump becoming calcified and then no longer working. Whether this happens or not can depend upon the water quality. Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet prior to attempting to replace this part. Wear work gloves for safety. This particular recirculation pump is compatible with ice cube makers that are manufactured by the Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, and Scotsman brands. This part is sold individually and is sourced directly from the manufacturer.

For Whirlpool Ice Maker Recirculation Pump Assembly (Part Number: OEM18020001)

Marty, There would only be one seal for the reservoir and that would be on the drain pump WR57X10073. You can pull out the reservoir and check it to make sure that there is not any types of cracks or anything. There could be a leak in one of the hose also.

7 year old GE Monogram under cabinet ice maker. Make good ice as normal and then suddenly stop making ice. I can her the circulation pump running but no water in the tray. I turn off the unit and after a few minutes I turn the unit back on and it operates as usual. I have run on-board diagnostics after its been turned off awhile and everything seems to pass. When I run it when its "hung" and I hear the valve solenoid "click on" calling for water but no water fills in the tray. I have verifiec that the supply line is good and not clogged (as I'm able to make ice after its powered off for a while). Reading the debug, it sounds like the "fill tube" my be frozen but when I inspect this there doesn't appear to be any ice in it. I am wondering if the "Measured Water Fill Valve" can fail in a mode where it works for several batches of ice and then stops working until power is reset? Any other suggestions of tests to run?

Eric for Model Number KUIA15NRHS5

Ice maker stopped working due to broken ice cutter wire. After inspecting, I decided to replace the ice cutter unit rather than just replace the wire (already did that two years ago). Just received new part from Appliance pro parts and replaced the wire cutter. Machine is still not producing ice. Unit and ice plate is cold, water reservoir has filled but the circulating pump is not coming on. I've checked the thermometer and other wiring in control box and all appears normal. Any Suggestions?

Eric, If the unit fills but the pump is not starting then the most likely cause would be a pump. You will want to check the thermistor that sits on the bottom of the evaporator plate to make sure that it is not defective but the pump is the most likely cause of failure.

Hello Jeff. If the noise is coming from the pump, you will need to order and replace the pump on the unit.

Leo for Model Number GI1500XHW (electronic controls)

The machine made ice but was noisy and we cleaned it. It then made ice successfully but we shut the water supply off inadvertently and when we restored the water supply it did not make ice. The compressor fan runs, the grid in intact and clean, the unit fills with water and drains properly. The evaporator plate shows only a thin sheet of ice forming. Possibilities to which we seem to have borrowed it are solenoid and circulating pump, We have not gone through the diagnostics using the controls. Is this worthwhile at this point knowing what I have written here? Thank you for any guidance. -leo

Leo, If the reservoir is filling with water then the solenoid would not be the issue and the most likely cause if the unit is not pumping water across the plate would be that the pump is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Jeff, You will want to check for a blockage in the water line. The specific location would be where the fill tube comes into the ice machine from the top back of the unit. You will want to take the top off the unit and check to see if the fill tube is frozen where it come into the unit. This would be the most likely cause for the unit to not operate properly. If it is frozen you will want to try to insulate it from the refrigerant lines as this would be the cause of the freezing.

Kathy, You will want to check to see if the noise is coming from the pump inside the unit which would be the most likely issue. Also check the condenser fan motor for making the noise.

Hello David. If the light and buttons do not work, it sounds like the control board WR55X10713 is bad and will need to be replaced.
