This is an ice maker recirculation pump assembly. This part includes a motor and pump that sends water from the reservoir over the top of the evaporator plate. This forms the slab of ice that will then drop onto the cutting grid to make ice cubes. In the event that the appliance is not making ice, it could be because this part has gone bad. Some users report the pump becoming calcified and then no longer working. Whether this happens or not can depend upon the water quality. Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet prior to attempting to replace this part. Wear work gloves for safety. This particular recirculation pump is compatible with ice cube makers that are manufactured by the Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, and Scotsman brands. This part is sold individually and is sourced directly from the manufacturer.

Ken for Model Number KUIS18NNJW7

Hi, When the undercounter ice maker is turned on, the water valve fills the reservoir and then nothing happens . . . no water flow across the evaporator plate. The plate does get very cold (ice crystals form on it). The pump AND the control board have both just been replaced with no luck. The new pump was tested outside of the unit and works fine, but once inside the machine it doesn't seem to be turning on and therefore won't suck the water out of the reservoir. At regular intervals the water valve opens and refills (or rather over-fills) the reservoir, but there is no activity from the machine otherwise. Any help would be appreciated! We are lost. Thanks, Ken

Hi David. Where is the water going? Does the resevoir have a hole in it? This part # is 2217379. Is the water splashing out of the grid plate because of a dirty plate? Use nickle safe cleaner part # is WX08X42870. Is the pump whining because it is dry ,or does it have a bad bearing? Part # is WP2217220. Thank you.

Hello Dustin. Check and see if the freezer plate is dirty. If so, you may need to use a bottle of cleaner WX08X42870 on it. Also make sure the coils under the machine are clean as well. Hope this helps.

Hello Joe. If the water is running on the inside of the machine and flowing across the freezer plate, the pump is working properly. If no water is running across the plate, you can remove the pump and see if voltage is coming to the pump. If so, and the pump does not run, you will need to replace the pump WP2217220. If the pump is working properly, you will need to check and see if the compressor is coming on. If not, you will need to test the compressor. Hello Randy. The water pump does not bring water to the reservoir, the water valve does that. If the water is not flowing across the freeze plate, the water pump is not pumping the water properly. You will need to test and see if there is power coming to the pump. If so, and the pump is not running, you will need to replace the pump. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Randy, As I understand this, the icemaker does not fill the reservoir at the start of the cycle, so the unit does not fill and circulate the water over the chill plate to make cubes, correct ? The first place to start, make sure there is water supplied to the fill valve, and the fill valve screen is not clogged with debris, Then run the Diagnostic/test Mode, "Entering and Navigating — Manual Diagnostics • Turn the product on. Within 10 seconds of Power On, press and hold the On and the Clean buttons. Release both buttons when all user interface LEDs begin to flash. • Within 5 seconds of all LEDs fl ashing, push any other button on the user interface. This begins manual diagnostics. • If no button is pressed within 5 seconds, the product goes into the automatic diagnostic mode used at the assembly plant. Each component is cycled for 5 seconds. • The Service button (or Off button on some models) is used to advance through each step. • To exit manual diagnostics, press the Power button (or On button on some models). These errors will occur at any time during normal operation if a thermistor fails. 2 Blinks — Service Light is blinking twice in repeating intervals – This signifies a bin thermistor failure. Check that the bin thermistor is plugged in to the control box. Check that the bin thermistor is not open or shorted. Replace the thermistor if it is open or shorted. 3 Blinks — Service Light is blinking three times in repeating intervals – This signifies a harvest failure. Check that the evaporator thermistor is connected to the sealed system tubing. If the thermistor is plugged in, ensure that it is fully connected to the control box. (The ice maker will operate on a timed cycle if the evaporator thermistor is unplugged.) Check the resistance of the thermistor. If the thermistor checks good, then look for a frost pattern on the evaporator plate. The unit may be low on refrigerant." this will give you and us a better idea of what may be the problem. Thanks
