The Spark Module Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module sends electrical signals to the igniters, creating the spark that lights the gas for cooking.

Over time, the spark module can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. When the spark module becomes faulty, it can lead to various problems with igniting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners not lighting or taking a long time to light
  • No clicking sound when turning the burner knob
  • Burners only lighting intermittently
  • Visible sparks or arcing from the module

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: This part is only compatible with serial numbers starting with 21 and up on model 8351VV.

Tony, You're dealing with two different type ignition systems. The oven ignition is a "glow bar"/ hot surface ignition system and is a direct link to the ERC or Thermostat, electrically. The top burners use a switch, spark module, and igniter, they have different power supplies(separate wires). You most likely have a damaged wire or terminal block on the back of the range. You'll need to move the range out of the cabinet and remove the back panels and check for damaged wires or parts.

Carl, If you remove the storage drawer the spark module should be located on the right side at the back and should be able to remove and replace the module.

Hello Greg. In most cases these are located on the back of the frame of the range. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Hello Steve, This is usually caused by spills and can normally be cleared by running a safety pin or small paper clip through the orifices. Cleaning the ignitors with white vinegar and an old toothbrush works well also. If this does not correct the issue you may need to disassemble the unit to clean the metal parts between the unit chassis and the burner bases. These surfaces can be best cleaned with sandpaper. The purpose of this is to restore ground for the ignitors to arc off to, (ignition spark).

Hello Larry. You need to look down behind the drawer of the unit. The module should be located down there.
