The Spark Module Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module sends electrical signals to the igniters, creating the spark that lights the gas for cooking.

Over time, the spark module can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. When the spark module becomes faulty, it can lead to various problems with igniting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners not lighting or taking a long time to light
  • No clicking sound when turning the burner knob
  • Burners only lighting intermittently
  • Visible sparks or arcing from the module

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: This part is only compatible with serial numbers starting with 21 and up on model 8351VV.

For Whirlpool Spark Module Kit (Part Number: OEM12030111)

Sl, For the issue of the knob not turning it sounds likely that the valve would need to be replaced. For the burner that is going out pull the orifices and clean them if this does not correct then replace the valve on that burner.

Ken, The individual burner gas supply tubes are no longer available from the manufacturer. You will need to order the Orifice Tube Assembly 12001076 / 12001076 and 12001075 12001075. Since the damaged tubes are for the front burners, you will need to order both orifice tube assemblies, this will give you new tubes and fittings for all the burners. Thanks,

Kim for Model Number JDG8130ADB

I recently purchased two new sealed cartridges (JGA8100ADB) for my Jenn-Air cooktop (jdg8130adb). One of the four igniters wouldn't spark so I switched the igniter for the igniter from my old cartridge and it sparked. I purchased a new igniter to replace the older one and it worked great for a while, now it will not spark. There is gas flow and all 4 burners click when I try to light, just one will not spark. Do I need a new spark modulator, or could there be another problem?

Kim, It would be recommended to check the ignition switches on the valves to make sure that they are good. If they check ok then check the wiring between spark module and the burner. If this checks ok then check to make sure that the burner is not dirty and if they check ok then the issue will be a faulty spark module.

Bob for Model Number CSG5600BAL

Hello, I have a 1992 Maytag Gas Porcelain Counter Top. I know I need your new Spark Ignition Module. My issue is that I have no idea how to remove just the porcelain top of this unit. I actually can see the module a little bit if I remove the gas control knobs and as I look toward the middle of the control panel and look down in one of the valve entry holes, I can see part of the module to the left of the gas valves. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Bob, In order to access the spark module you will need to lift the unit out of the cabinet and remove the screws around the perimeter of the cooktop.

Hello Douglas, The spark module 8215557 is located on the back of the unit. I'm sorry but we do not have a video of this part for the model provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Rick, For this issue the most likely cause for the burners to not spark or ignite would be a faulty switch behind the control knobs.
