Rob May 14, 2018 for Model Number KEMC377KSS05 The torsion spring broke and shattered the inner glass of this model. The torsion spring that is broke has red paint on the end. Hunnypuppy January 11, 2016 for Model Number KEMC378KSS02 Hi, I have a Kitchen Aid KEMC378KSS02 microwave. The door just drops down so it looks like the torsion springs are broken. I'm trying to figure out which parts to use. After going through the website I was taken a page with part number 4451008. Then after reading the Q&A's I see that these parts have been replaced other parts but I keep getting different numbers 4452396 and 4452395. So now I'm totally confused. I'm assuming that here are 2 torsion springs left and right. What are the correct part numbers for them for this model and are they identical (i.e. do I order 2 of the same part if one isn't available)? (I see in one Q&A you mentioned they are "bent" identical, so are they the same?)
Manny November 21, 2015 for Model Number kehc379jss05 The microwave light does not turn on. I have tried replacing the bulb several times and its not that. What else could be the problem?
1 Answer Manny, With the light not working in the microwave it would most likely be a faulty control board since the bulbs are not the issue. You can test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the socket and if there is then the socket would be the issue but if not then the control board is the issue. Read More...
Dave Griegel July 16, 2015 for Model Number GMC275PDQ6 Thanks again but now I'm really confused. I looked up part #4452398 and it showed a torsion spring for a stainless model and it had the same bends as the left one pictured in your exploded view of my model. Also, your "parts compatibility tool" claims part #4452398 is incompatible. The right and left sides are bent differently and I have yet to see a picture of a right side torsion spring. Please advise.
1 Answer Dave, Several years ago the manufacturer started recommending use of the Stainless Steel door paneltorsion springs on all models of this microwave. The stainless steel springs produce more tension, are slightly larger in diameter, and should last longer than the "standard" painted metal door panel door tension springs. The left side torsion spring should be 4452395/WP4452395, the right side spring should be 4452396/WP4452396. The springs are "bent" identically on all models and will work on all models. The compatibility chart needs to be updated. Read More...
