The Lower Spray Arm Hub is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool built-in dishwashers. It is a central component that secures the rotating lower wash arm during the wash cycle.

Causes of a bad lower spray arm hub involve general wear from years of repeated wash cycles. Mineral buildup accumulating inside may also deteriorate connecting surfaces over time.

Symptoms of a compromised hub include:

  • Loose, detached lower wash arm that does not rotate properly
  • Mineral deposits or food debris caught in the hub impeding arm movement
  • Excessive noise, clanking sounds, or vibrations emanating from the lower basket
  • Poor lower rack cleaning leaving residual food soils after wash cycles

Compatible brands also include KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, and some Kenmore built-in dishwasher models.

For Whirlpool Lower Spray Arm Hub (Part Number: OEM18044613)

Robert for Model Number KUDS30FXBL5

Hello about a week ago my dishwasher began to leak water beneath the door (left side). I ordered a door gasket from you.... It has not arrived yet... I noticed that when I spin the lower spray arm that it hits the "Value-Inlt" that supplies water to the "Water Supply Tube" Is this typical or should the lower arm spin freely??? Is this a sign that my "Lower Spray Arm Hub" is damaged and needs to be repaired... Could a damaged lower spray arm hub cause the water to leak at the corner of the door?? Thanks

1 Answer

Robert, That is typical without the water flowing thru it. Only make sure no holes are clogged with debris in the spray arm. Your leak is probably from the door gasket.

Jean, If you grab the hub with a pair of needle nose pliers you should be able to pull the hub up and get it to meet with the spray arm in order to screw it on.

Hello Keith, You will need to replace the lower spray arm hub WPW10077898 and the lower spray arm WPW10330588 to correct the threading issue with the parts. The old ones will have to be forced to remove them and the metal of the spray arm and the plastic threads on the hub can both be damaged at this point.

Hello Andy, The spray arm has to be loose so the water pressure can spin it. There is most likely not a problem with the spray arm but more likely something going on with the chopper assembly W10083957V.

Gary, When the hub is located in the unit it will align with the plastic molded piece, you then set the spray arm on top and screw it down.

Clem, "Drop" the hub assembly WPW10077898 into the top of the supply tube WPW10077899 then install the seal WP8268340, set the spray arm onto the seal and install and turn the "thumbscrew" until finger tigth, use a pair of pliers and hold the thumbscrew, and turn the spray arm clockwise 1/4 turn to tighten the assembly. Thanks and Good Luck
