The Lid Switch Assembly with Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer's lid is securely closed before the machine operates, preventing the washer from running with the lid open.

Over time, the lid switch assembly can fail due to regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage to the switch mechanism. Exposure to moisture or repeated opening and closing of the lid can also contribute to its deterioration.

Symptoms of a bad lid switch assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • The machine not spinning or agitating
  • No response when trying to start a cycle
  • The washer filling but not advancing to the next cycle stage

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Hello Mykey. Take the two screws out of the front panel to remove the front panel to access and replace the lid switch 12001514. Once removed, you will remove the access panel above the washer lid and access the screws securing the lid switch in place on the unit.

Mykey, You're most likely working on a later version of a Maytag Stacked laundry system, (SG7804 or 7806) and the part number and diagram, indicates it is the washer lid switch. The switch assembly is mounted to the underside of the washer top panel, in the right rear corner, and there is one screw that mounts it to the upper side of the washer top. You'll need to remove power to the unit, slide the washer out from under the dryer, remove the front panel, Remove the two bolts(one in each front corner) remove the two rear top mount bolts in the openings in the corners of the top, and raise the washer top assembly sideways(right to left)

Hello Mykey. The first thing to do is to remove the power. Remove the front panel. Then Look up under the front of the top and remove the 2 3/8" lt. and rt. corner bolts. Remove the front cover panel under the controls. This will allow the access to the switch assy. It may be easier to lift the lid assy. off the top. You just need to make sure that you do not loose the lid hinge balls as they will poop off and fly out. This makes it easier to remove the switch assy as the lid out of balance lever will not engage the switch mechanics. Just use a dab of grease on the ball when replacing the lid. Put the balls on the lid and work one corner at a time. Use a felt marker on the old switch body to mark where it goes. This will quickly help the realignment of the new one (a critical step). The switch assy is part # 12001514. Thank You.

Hello Ned, You probably cannot find the fuse because it is internal to the lid switch. Replace the lid switch assembly 12001514 and you have replaced the fuse.

Hello Jay. You will need to open the lid to install the switch 12001514. You will position the rod so when the lid closes, it will press the switch and turn on the lid switch in the closed position. It should raise the arm up in the on position. Hope this helps.
