Customer Questions and Answers for Lid Switch Assembly With Fuse by Whirlpool

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12025581
Manufacturer Part Number: 12001514

The Lid Switch Assembly with Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer's lid is securely closed before the machine operates, preventing the washer from running with the lid open.

Over time, the lid switch assembly can fail due to regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage to the switch mechanism. Exposure to moisture or repeated opening and closing of the lid can also contribute to its deterioration.

Symptoms of a bad lid switch assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
  • The machine not spinning or agitating
  • No response when trying to start a cycle
  • The washer filling but not advancing to the next cycle stage

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Mike for Model Number LSE7806ADE

My washer would not turn on at all and so I ordered a lid switch assembly which came with a fuse. I installed the new lid switch assembly but the washer still won't turn on. Where does the fuse go? Is it for the fuse block attached to the front of the washer below the fill switch? Or does it fit somewhere in the new lid switch assembly? I know I should have tested parts before replacing without knowing. But our washer seemed to be failing in this area before it seemed to lose power. thanks very much, Mike

Answer

Mike, Yes the fuse WP22001555 is located on the front cabinet flange. The fuse controls the neutral circuit of the water valve. If you replaced the lid switch assembly, and it's wired correctly, then the washer should spin/drain even if the fuse is "blown". If that doesn't solve the problem, you want to start at the terminal block and make sure there are no loose wires or connections, then check and make sure the "umbilical cord" between the dryer and washer doesn't have any corrosion on the "pins" and connectors and it is seated tightly and properly.
