Ac May 06, 2013 for Model Number Jenn-air JES8850BAS Do I need to remove the glass cook-top before I can replace this switch (W10185286)? Thanks
1 Answer Hello AC. 1. Remove power from unit. 2. Remove burner switch control knobs. 3. Remove front screws securing control panel to chassis. 4. Remove screws located on the left and right sides of the control panel. 5. Grasp control panel on the far left and right sides and gently pull the control panel out and down. NOTE: The electronic control located in the control panel is a sensitive item, handle gently. 6. Label and disconnect wire terminals. 7. Remove infinite switch control knobs, infinite switches, indicator lights, rocker switches, and electronic control/clock (as necessary) and transfer to the new control panel. 8. Reverse procedure to reinstall control panel. 1. Remove control panel, see "Control Panel" procedure for removal. 2. Label and disconnect wire terminals from infinite switch. 3. Remove knob on infinite switch being replaced. 4. Remove screws in front securing infinite switch to control panel. 5. Reverse procedure to reinstall infinite switch. Read More...
Mike T October 03, 2012 for Model Number jes8850bas The left front burner only burns on high whenever the switch is on to any position. I've replaced the switch once and it seemed to work once but then returned to only being on high the next time. Is the problem in the element or should I look elsewhere first.
1 Answer Hi Mike, since you have already replaced the switch, the element W10823724 may be your problem. There is a limiter on the element that cycles the power on and off to keep the element from getting too hot. Hope this helps! Read More...
Holclkc March 07, 2012 for Model Number jes8850bas I did not test the switch to see if it was sending power to the element, I installed a new switch and got no change in the element. Does your answer still fit this scenario?
1 Answer Hello Holclkc. No, you will need to test the switch WPW10185286 and see if it is sending power to the element. If not, replace the switch. If it is sending power, you will need to replace the element. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Holclkc March 07, 2012 for Model Number jes8850bas My element indicator light is on but the element is not working and it is not the infinite switch and the indicator light stays on all the time.....what is the problem?
1 Answer Hell Holclkc. If you tested the switch WPW10185286 and it is sending power to the element, then the only problem with the unit is the element. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you will need to replace the element on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
