J50GT, Thank you for your question. Where the P1 is is the L1, everything else will be the same and the P2 is where the P would go.

I ordered 2 new switch for the left side, both single burners. The LR burner switch I replaced with a WP74011242 and the new switch was identical and works fine. Question is the existing LF switch. I ordered a W11088181 as it looks like the existing switch. The only number that looks like a part number is 7403p405 60. The new switch looks similiar, but the existing one has H2 and the new one has HC. When I connected H2 to the HC and turned on power it tripped the breaker. I put the old switchback so I could use the cook top. Do I have the correct switch? Also the connection labels are not clearly marked for the terminals. Can either terminal on the lower right of the switch be used as "P"?

Louis, Based on the model number this is a Jenn Air Down draft, the manufacturer has changed the switch and it will no longer work for your model. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not furnished a replacement part that will.

Igodwin67, For this issue, there are 2 different switches, one is a dual switch and the other is a standard switch. The dual switch will have more wires.

I needed to switch out several of the original infinite switches from my unit and decided to do all 4. The originals were 7403P405 60s and the recommended replacement switches were W11088181s. The problem is that the new ones have one additional terminal that appears to be another P terminal and the L2 marking is confusing such that I'm not sure which is the right P terminal to use and which one is the L2? Can you clarify the configuration for me. Thanks.

Tom, When looking at tje switch, The bottom terminal where it says P is the P terminal and the on in the corner on the side will be the L2.

Roderick for Model Number JED8230ADS

I have a Smooth top, 2 elements (Lf & Lr) with a grill on the Right side. Both elements stayed on High, would not modulate temperature. I replaced two 7403P405 60 infinity switches with two W11088181 infinity switches. I wired it using Hc as H2. The Lr element worked correctly. However, the Lf switch turned on both the Lf and Lr elements. Checked all the wiring and both switches were wired correctly. Researching on the internet I found one supplier that said to connect old H1 to new Hc and old H2 to new H1. I did and the elements works correctly now. For your info, I did check L2 to Hc for continuity and it was open with switch off. I also noted that H1 is common to both elements but I could find nothing to make the Lr element hot from the Lf switch. What did I miss? Please respond by email if possible.

Roderick, The manufacturer changed the design of the switch in which the L1 now becomes the regulator of temperature as to where the previous infinite switch was L2 as the regulator.

I'm rebuilding my Jenn Air JED8230ADB and I'm replacing all of the burner switches (two are known to be bad). All of mine are the 7403P405 60 switches with the terminals on the bottom, will the new ones be configured this way or are they the ones with the terminals around the perimeter? While I have this out and torn apart, it's there anything else I should replace "while I'm there"? Finally, I remember my grandmother's Jenn Air top like mine turning the fan on with the grill top inserted, mine does not. Is it a difference in models or switches?
