Cheryl, the switch needed for the dual element is part number WP74008248. For the dual burner switch, the tan wire goes to the terminal 4, yellow will go to 4a, the double black wire would go to P1, the black jumper wire will go to the second terminal at P1 and S1, the single red wire will go to 2, the double red wire will go to P2, and the orange wire will go to S2.

Tom, the motor would need to be tested for 120VAC at the red wire during a low spin. If there is a constant 120VAC, the motor WP74005785 has failed and would need to be replaced. It is likely that the windings are bad and causing the motor to overheat. If there is not a constant 120VAC, the fan switch would need to be tested for 120VAC at the yellow wire and the red wire. If there is a constant voltage at the yellow wire but not the red, the contacts in the switch W10341820 are failing and would need to be replaced. If there is not a constant 120VAC at the yellow wire, the relay 12001452 would need to be replaced.

Gflat65 for Model Number CCE3401W

I am replacing the double burner element control switch (infinity switch?) on a JennAir CCE3401W range top. I received part number 12002125 as the replacement with two spare wires. The numbering on the replacement switch does not match the numbering on the old switch. The old switch us simply numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and N. The new switch is labeled S1, S2, P1 (P1 has two terminals?), P2, 2, 4, and 4a. Which wires go to which terminals? Where are the two spare wires used?

1 Answer

Hello gflat65, The wire on 2 will connect to P1 along with one end of the black jumper lead. The other end of the jumper lead will connect to S1. The wire on 3 will connect to 4. The wire on 4 will connect to 4a, the wire on 5 will connect to S2. The wire to L2 will connect to P2.

Dagian, the Hc terminal on the new switch is going to be H2. In regards to both burners turning on, it is likely that the second switch has failed and has a closed circuit on the H2 side of the circuit. This can be tested (with the power turned off to the appliance) by testing the other switch from H2 to L2 for continuity. If there is continuity while the switch W11088181 is in the off position, it has failed and would need to be replaced.

Jerry for Model Number Jenn-Air CVE3401B

I'm replacing both infinite switches on the right side - for the front dual burner and the rear 6" burner. I saw in another Q&A that the front dual infinite switch is 12002125 and that the rear switch is WP74011242. The dual switch looks to be correct, since it has the exact same terminal layout. The rear switch, however, is replacing a 7403P590 60, which has a markedly different terminal layout than the WP74011242. Did I get the wrong switch for the right rear 6" burner, or is there information available to illustrate how to translate the wiring connections? While I'm at it, I need to replace the infinite switch for the front left 6" burner as well. Could you please provide the correct part number for that replacement switch too? Thanks in advance!

1 Answer

Jerry, the front left switch is part number W11088181. The right rear switch is part number WP74011242 and would be wired as follows: Black L1 jumpered wire to terminal L1, Orange wire to terminal P2, Red jumpered wire to terminal L2, Violet wire to terminal H1, and the other Violet wire to terminal H2.

Carla, The correct infinite switch for the model number you supplied is W11088181 / W11088181 Switch - Infinite. This would be for the right front, "single" Halogen burner element. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Hello Andrew, I'm sorry but we will need the serial number from your units' I.D. tag to determine the series unit you have in your home. It does not appear that you have the correct infinite switch for your model but we would need this information to advise you which part you will actually need. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
