This infinite switch controls power to a 6-inch surface element on an electric range or cooktop, allowing smooth heat adjustment from low to high. Replace a worn switch to restore consistent burner control and cooking performance.

  • Regulates power to a 6-inch surface burner as you turn the knob
  • Provides variable heat by cycling power on and off at the selected setting
  • Typical failure symptoms: burner won't heat, only heats on high, won't adjust temperature, or won't shut off
What's included: One infinite switch for a 6-inch surface element. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
  • Pull off the control knob and access the switch from the control panel; note/take a photo of wire locations
  • Transfer wires to the new switch one at a time to match terminals; mount the switch and reinstall knob/panel
  • Restore power and test the 6-inch burner through all settings

Hello Julie. You will need to test and see if the dual burner switch 8203534 is sending power to the element. Check from neutral to number 2 on the switch, you should have power coming to the switch. Then with the switch on, check across number 3 and neutral and there should be power there. If it has power coming to the switch, but is not sending power to the element, then it is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1.
