Marc September 02, 2013 for Model Number w10207935 Removing, cleaning and putting back in place the same membrane. What product should I use to stick it back in place correctly. 2/3 of the touchs on the membrane have stopped working. Connectors on the ribbons appear clean and no visible corrosion.
1 Answer Marc, If you pulled off the membrane switch and the sticky surface is gone, we do not have an adhesive that can be used to reinstall the part. You would want to replace the membrane switch. Read More...
Al July 05, 2013 for Model Number GY399LXUQ04 Is it normal for some of the touch controls to just stop working. Our Convect Bake & Roast along with the 2,3,4,5 number have stopped.. Is this something I can replace without a service man. I'm usually able to fix things.
1 Answer Al, You will want to access the control board and check the ribbon harness to make sure that there is a good firm connection. Also check to make sure that there is no corrosion on the ribbon harness. If this checks ok, then the membrane switch is faulty and can be replaced. Read More...
Armando April 05, 2013 for Model Number YGY399LXUQ05 Hello, On my Whirlpool range: "preset" (0), (6) and (9) stopped responding on the Electronic Control. After close inspection, I'm convinced the switch memb is the problem. Can this switch membrane be cleaned? Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Armando, It won't hurt to try. Use a non residue elecric contact cleaner available from a local elecric supply, spray the contacts on the inside of the connectors on the ERC/Clock, and the connectors on the end of the membrane ribbon. Wipeoff any excess and insert the connectors back into the ERC/Clock (plug and unplug the connectors several times) make suree they are properly seated and tight, return power to the range and try to program the oven, then attempt to select the buttons you mentioned, if the problem still exists you'll need to repalce the membrane switch assembly.
