Patrick July 31, 2011 for Model Number LSQ8243HQ0 I bought the Whirlpool Ultimate care II washer used with no information about it. I hooked up the water and ran it thru a wash cycle. The tub filled, the wash cycle worked, but then when it got to the rinse cycle it just stopped, it did not drain. I opened the lid a few times, then it started back up, drained and went into the rinse cycle, drained, then went into the spin cycle. I went thru the wash cycle again but, it stopped like it had before, with nothing happening for over 20 minutes. I tried to raise and lowered the door but this time nothing happen. I mention this to a repair man that was working on my freezer and he told my wife it would cost $125.00. I don’t remember what he said the part was. He never took a look at the washer. Can you tell me what part it might be? My son is a license electrician and he would install whatever part it is.
1 Answer Hello Patrick. You will need to check and see if the lid switch assembly 3949247V is bad. If so, it will cause the problems your having on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. It should read closed with the lid closed. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Gw July 12, 2011 for Model Number Estate TAWS800JQ2 I may be posting this a second time. I am not sure that it went the first time. How do get the top of my Estate washer off to replace the lid switch?
1 Answer Hi G.W. First remove power. Then see if your control panel has 2 screws on the back side of your end caps. If so, then loosen these screws. If Not, Then there are hidden clips in the bottom(front) of your end caps. You have to then carefully use a plastic putty knife to push in to the bottom of the end caps/ in between the top - lid assembly. As you push in the clips, you will slightly pull forward on the whole control panel assembly, and lift up, folding upwards and backwards at the same time. This will expose the top " brass" wavy clips that you use a flat blade screwdriver to release them. This will release the back panel from the entire cabinet assembly. Lift up on the lid. Put your hand in the front opening of the top of the drum area. Pull the whole cabinet assembly, up and off of the bottom frame of the machine. remember to put the front inner folded lip of the cabinet under the front of the frame during installation. The bottom of the cabinet inner folded lips goes on the top of the frame at the same time on reassembly. Make sure the "fingers" on the top of the frame sides go into the cut out slots on the underside of the cabinet, or the back will not align properly for the top" brass" wavy clips. 1 Answer Hello GW. Disconnect the power to the unit. Remove the two screws in the back corners of the control panel securing the control panel. Pull the control panel forward and flip it backwards. Next unplug the lid switch and remove the two brass colored clips securing the cabinet to the back wall using a flat blade screwdriver to pry them out. Pull on the front of the cabinet and slide the cabinet off the frame of the washer. You can now access and replace the lid switch 3949247V. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps. Read More...

1 Answer Josie, you're on the right track, It could be a bad lid switch or a loose wire connectionWPW10619844(example only) . Also check and make sure the hinges are not loose and the lid is not bent or caved in. You can access the lid switch assembly by raising the top of the washer, using a putty knife and pressing in on the spring clips located about 3 inches in from the corners, in the seam between the top and front panel assembly, after you unplug the power cord from the outlet. If the wiring and switch are OK, as well as the loading lid, you'll need to suspect the main control board WPW10189966 .
