Hello Dad, This can be the speed switch WPW10168257, the timer, or the motor assembly. The lid switch or capacitor will not be the issue since the unit will spin at the lower speed. The harness should be checked also since many of these had issues with the wire ties that support the harness being tightened too tight on the assembly line. Over a period of time, the vibrations from normal operation will cause a harness issue. Testing the unit with a meter, the wiring diagram, and the time chart normally locates the issue.

Hello Jac, Check the screens in the hoses from the water supply faucet in the wall. If there are no stopped up screens, change the water inlet valve 285805 because the issue is most likely the cold water side of this valve.

My machine will not spin or drain. I tried closing the lid and did not hear a click. I reached up under the lid and felt that the entire lid switch unit was loose. When i held it up with my hand and manually pushed the switch down it clicked and continued making a clicking noise but did not spin (the lid was open but i was depressing the switch with a paperclip). Does this mean the switch needs to be replaced? Should i just try tightening the unit first?

Hello Mskym, The lid switch should be changed first since it is a necessary part of the circuit. If there is another problem after it is replaced, it can then be narrowed down. Most of the time the lid switch will correct the issue.

MSkym, You will want to try to tighten the lid switch down first and if it still is inoperative then replace the lid switch 3949247V.
