Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18051531)

1 Answer

Ken, this could potentially be a failed pressure switch W11417620, broken wire, or failed main control WPW10311189 (part has been discontinued by the manufacturer). The pressure switch can be tested for continuity from pin 21 to pin 24 then pin 21 to pin 22 while gently blowing into the pressure switch. There should be continuity. If there is, and there is not a broken wire, the main control has failed.

Ken, with the door open, press and hold the quick cycle button for a minimum of 2 seconds and this should clear the error code.

Michelle, the hot water valve WPW10212598 is going to be separate from the cold water valve. As shutting the hot water supply valve off will stop water from accumulating, the hot water valve has certainly failed and it would need to be replaced.

Robert, It would be suggested to check all the hoses to ensure that they are not damaged or leaking. Check the water valve and the dispenser housing to ensure it is not leaking. A leak of one of the hoses is the most likely cause for water under the washer.

How to clean screens? Two years ago I used your wonderful website to figure out what was wrong with my Whirlpool Duet washer and successfully replaced the cold water inlet valve. Now it is giving an LF code and cold water filling slowly, so it looks like a cold water valve problem again. This seems a bit soon for the valve to need replacing as I'm not running a lot of washes and our water isn't hard. So I wanted to check for dirt or debris before replacing the valve, in case I can fix it or figure out a way to make it last longer next time. A couple of Q&As mention cleaning screens. The hose has no screen either end. Can I buy one to add? And is there a way to clean/check screens on/in the valve itself? Many thanks for your advice

1 Answer

Suzanne, the screens can be checked by turning the water supply valves off, removing the supply hoses and inspecting the valve entrance where the screens are located. A toothbrush can be used to clean the screens as best as possible, but if they are too congested then they would need to be replaced. Hose filter screens 285452A are available to add to the supply hoses.

James for Model Number NFW7300WW00

When we push the start button the door locks and does nothing. Can't open the door. Have to manually undo the door from the bottom. It all started when we came down to see if the clothes were done that all the clothes were soaked. Did not finish the cycle. No water left. Then when we tried to restart just got blinking and 3 beeps but nothing would start. We saw that the detergent was gone but the softener material was still left. We unplugged it for over 15 minutes and tried to start it again, this time the door locked and would not open. Someone mentioned it may be a water inlet valve. Any ideas.

1 Answer

James, While the water valve could be the issue with the unit, this would most likely be caused by a faulty door lock assembly. If the control board is not seeing the door as being locked it will not allow the unit to operate.

Joe, Have the unit on and the water on and unplug the unit to see if the water stops. If it does then the control will be the issue. If it continues to run the valve is defective and would need replaced.

Christine, There is a single inlet valve which would be for the hot water supply, if the hot water is working then the double valve for cold water supply is what would be needed. The hot water valve is WPW10212598 and the cold water supply is WPW10212596.
