For Whirlpool Refrigerator Temperature Sensor Thermistor (Part Number: OEM18018210)

Freezer cold; refrig warm. I'm assuming the control board regulates temperature in the refrigerator using the thermistor sensor and diffuser (a/k/a vent damper). If the thermistor is ok, then possibly either the control board (which the thermistor connects to, via the wiring harness), or the diffuser could be bad. Is this a good assumption; and how to check the vent damper? Is the vent damper controlled electrically? And thanks for running, in my opinion, THE best site for appliance repair & parts.

Hello Phil. Is there any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer? If so, you could have a defrost problem. To check the thermister, you will need to ohm it out. Here is a chart to go by. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Hello Julian. The thermistor reads the temperature of the refrigerator. If the temperature is to cold or to warm inside the refrigerator, then the thermistor could be bad. You can test the thermistor and see if it is bad. Here is a chart to go by.
