James December 28, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore Elite refrigerator 106.74209400 Refrigerator is freezing products getting too cold not controlling temperature.
1 Answer Hello James, You will want to check the damper assembly on unit to make sure it is not stuck open or warped. You will also want to check the resistance of the thermistor. The thermistor should read 2.7K ohms at room temp. The resistance will go up as the temp goes down. Read More...
Ketpur August 23, 2012 for Model Number GD5NVAXWA00 How do we I replace the diffuser (AP4370851) for GD5NVAXWA00? The diagram on the website is not clear. Do I need to remove the diffuser clips from the freezer side, if so how?
1 Answer Hello Ketpur. You will remove the cover on the inside of the fresh food. Then remove the air duct assembly at the top inside the freezer. Once you remove it, you can access the clips and release the tabs securing the diffuser W10128726 in place and replace the part. Read More...
Joseph T. August 11, 2012 for Model Number GS6NBEXRL02 I found ice covering the thermostat. When I tested it, it tested bad. I replaced it with a GE thermostat. I listened to a friend and replaced the start device. The compressor is too hot to touch. The unit will run normally if it is pulled out from the wall. If you push it 2 inches from the wall, the ice cubes start to melt. frost only cover 3 rows on the evaporator where the freon coming in.Fans are working ,At the compressor line out is hot and line in is cool. my question is: I need new unit or just install tap valve in low side and put in some 134 freon in.The unit is 4 years old.Thinking about replace thermistor .It read inf in any temperature Someone help. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Joseph, If the unit runs too hot when pushed back to the wall, you need to check the condenser fan motor WP2188874. It is this fans job to help dissipate the heat the unit has removed form the unit interior, back into the room. The best test for this is to stop the fan and let go. If it starts turning slowly, or you have to bump it to get it started back up, it should be replaced. Of course, you should refer back to the installation instructions to insure there is enough room around the unit to allow for proper air flow. If you have a cabinet that fits the unit snugly, the entire issue may be a lack of air flow. Read More...
Ketpur July 28, 2012 for Model Number GD5NVAXWA00 I have a whirpool refrigerator model # GD5NVAXWA00 and the food in the back of the refrigerator freezes. What do I need to change besides the AP3745265 Thermistor? Also, how do I replace the thermistor?
1 Answer Ketpur, you will need to check the diffuser W10128726. If the door is stuck open it will allow all the cold air from the freezer section into the refrigerator section at all times. Also, make sure that the refrigerator section is set at the proper control. To replace the thermistor WP2188819 turn the power off to the unit. The thermistor is in the refrigerator section. Remove the screw holding the control box in place. Once that is removed, remove the control box. You will see the thermistor. Unplug the thermistor. Reverse order to install. I hope this information helps you, thanks! Read More...
Pho July 22, 2012 for Model Number KSSS48qmx00 I've almost changed all the guts from my kitchen aid which has a burned compressor and failed inverter: Compressor, evaporator, heater coil, inverter, control electronic, display. The freezer and fridge is cold at the desired temperature (-5, 34) but the compressor is running all the time even during at late night. I've just changed the thermistor without any effect. (The wiring from the thermistor to the control board is good too) The only things I've not changed is the power control. The amp at the inverter is 1.6 amp. A few time it goes down to .6 amp. I worried that if the compressor running all the time will lead to its burning out like it has happened before. Any idea or suggestion ?
1 Answer Hello Pho. It is normal for the compressor to run and maintain the proper temperature. If the condenser fan is running, and the unit is cooling properly, the compressor run time is fine in the unit. Read More...
Brian July 16, 2012 for Model Number GS6NBEXRA02 The refrigerator slowly increases in temperature. If I umplug the refrigerator control, the system seems to reboot when plugged back in and runs normally for a month or so, then back to short cycling and warming temperatures. The wiring diagram doesn't show any safety controls, so I'm assuming a problem with the main controller. I don't want to replace a good part, so I was hoping someone else has solved this problem already and could provide guidence. What is causing the machine to lose temperature accuracy, yet allows a reboot to proper operation?
1 Answer Brian, You most likely have an issue wih the control board WPW10135091. But you do want to test the thermisotr resistance at the main control board WPW10135091 (located in the back of the fridge in the compressor compartment)It should have a resistance reading of 2800 ohms resistance ay room temp. (77 dgrs F,) on the P2 connector pin 1 (orng) across pin 6 (orng/blk). Check and make sure there are no loose connections, or moisture on the thermisotr connector. Read More...
Jim May 02, 2012 for Model Number kenmore. 106.53259202 Freezer -30 F Refrig. +38 F. No ice to ice maker. Water fine. No excessive ice build up on coils. Poor air flow through diffuser.
1 Answer Hello Jim. Based on the information you provided, the freezer is to cold for proper ice production. You will need to get the freezer to 0° for the icemaker to work properly. Check and make sure the water lines in the unit and the fill tube is not frozen due to the temperature in the freezer. Read More...
Phil B. November 03, 2011 for Model Number 10674902401 Kenmore Elite Type 19TFA I have a Kenmore Elite model 10674902401 first the compressor was not kicking on, I unplugged it for a hour, plugged it back in, I heard 1 click noise about every 45 sec, then the compressor started working, its nice and cold, but the compressor wont shut off. How long should the compressor run before shutting off? Could it be the relay switch, the run capacitor, or the thermostat.
1 Answer Hello Phil. The compressor shuts off when the desired temperature is reached inside the unit. You can try turning the temperature down slowly and see if it shuts off before you reach the off position. If so, then the thermistor should be good. If not, and the unit is the proper temperature, you will need to test the thermistor WP2188820. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms If the thermisot is good, you will need to replace the control board 8201735. As for the clicking, it sounds like the compressor may be going bad on the unit. It seems the unit is building up pressure and is not equalizing properly. If the unit continues to try to start and then finally does, you will need to replace the compressor W10309988. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Steve September 29, 2011 for Model Number GS6NVEXVS01 Freezer is getting ice build up on the door and around the walls, while refri is getting warm. I notice also that there is ice in between the wall of the freezer and refrig, so there is no air circulation. Could be bad the defrost thermostat or the thermistor...or should I look for something else? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Steve. Check and make sure the flapper in the dispenser assembly is not broke. If it is closing good, you will need to look for a bad door seal 2159082. It sounds like the unit is drawing in warm air from the room. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out all the ice in the freezer and on the freezer walls. Hope this helps. Kevin August 05, 2011 for Model Number KSRA25FKSS00 I have an over temperature alarm that intermittently goes off. In checking the temperature with a thermometer (tried 2 to ensure accuracy)I have 39-40 degrees in the fridge and 2 degrees in the freezer, very close to the settings, yet I still get the alarm. Any ideas? Also, I do not see a listing for the thermistor for the freezer. Is it the same part number as the one listed here for the refrigerator side?
1 Answer Hi Kevin. It is the same part #WP2188819. Normal Temperatures are 0-degrees in the freezer, 37-47 degrees in the fresh food. Thank you. Read More...
