This cycling thermostat regulates on/off heat cycles to maintain consistent operating temperature. Replacing a failed thermostat restores proper temperature control and helps protect the appliance from overheating or underheating during normal operation.

  • Senses internal temperature and opens/closes contacts to control the heating circuit
  • Helps prevent overheating; supports stable, repeatable heat cycling
  • Common failure symptoms include no heat, overheating/shutting off too soon, or longer-than-normal run times
  • Electrical component—failure may be intermittent before complete loss of function

  • Disconnect power (and gas supply, if applicable) before service
  • Note wire locations; transfer connectors one at a time to the new thermostat

Brian, It shows that there is a lo limit thermostat LA-1035 rated at 120/110 control thermostat WP53-1107 rated at 146/121 The second is for a series 10 which is the first 2 digits of the serial number. There is another control thermostat which would be for series 11 and is part number WP31001192.

Hello Wes. Either the vent is bad or the heater is staying on the blow the fuse. You will need to check both.

Thinking the timer was bad I replaced it. Dryer still won't shut off in either of the two Auto Dry cycles. Timer/cycle knob will just continue to travel around into the next cycle. In Timed Drying the dryer will shut off when the control knob reaches Off. Is this a sign of a bad cycling thermostat? If so I have seen two different voltage cycling thermostats, a 120 volt and a 240 volt. Which one would I need to replace the existing one in the dryer? BTW, I have completely cleaned the ductwork and inside the dryer.

My dryer says version 1 after the model. The cycling thermostat is closed across the large spades and open across the small ones. Will this cause the dryer to act as it there is no power? There is power inside the unit. Tested the 53-1182 fuse and it has continuity across the terminals. There is also 220 across the motor terminals but mot running or heating. Can not find any other thermostat up by the electric coils. have kit LA-1053 but can not find where the little one goes.

Neil for Model Number hye3460ayw

Hello, my dryer, model HYE3460ayw started shutting off before the clothes were dry, it has gotten progressively worse. Based on information I found on the internet I ordered a high limit kit and replaced those parts, but this did not fix the problem. It has gotten to a point where the dryer will only run for about 5 minutes before shutting off. When it shuts off it wont do anything until it cools for a bit, then it will start and run again for a short period of time. It also seems that on any temperature setting except "air fluff" the temperature in the drum is getting very hot. On further research it appears that my cycling thermostat may be bad. Does this sound correct? Or is there something else that could be causing my problem? Thanks

Neil, The first thing that you will want to check is the dryer venting. It sounds like, based on the information, that the vent is clogged up and causing the unit overheat inside. This will cause the cycling thermostat to close and remain closed allowing the timer to cycle faster than normal. Check the venting from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of the home for obstructions, clogging and especially where it comes out of the home for lint clogging a screen or causing the vent flap to not open.

Bill, With the thermal fuse blowing after just a few minutes you will want to ensure that there is nothing caught in the blower wheel. If there are like static sheets that are caught in it or something that is restricting the air flow then this will cause the thermal to blow. Also check your heater to make sure that it is good.
