John Nels March 14, 2020 for Model Number 110.86573110 Hi, I would like to buy your part, but I'm not sure if my 61894 part is bad. I have mutimeters, but I'm not sure how to test this part for being good or bad. Is there any way to steer me through this test. I found ways to test the other thermostats (high and low) and the fuse, but this heater/sensor is a different animal. From what I read, this part should show continuity when tested. My meter puts out an audible signal when I tested the high and low thermostates and the thermal fuse, but nothing when I touch the 61894 terminals. So is it bad or is it tested differently. I don't know what to go by. Thanks
1 Answer John Nels, the heater you are asking about is a resistance check. 4K-5K ohms should be the proper range of resistance. This heater is used to 'fool' the cycling thermostat so that it cycles the thermostat quicker, thereby giving a cooler temperature in the dryer. This is what allows the dryer to run on low heat. 1 Answer Hello Scott, We do not sell used parts. The parts we sell are new from the manufacturer. WP61894 is a new part packaged by the manufacturer. Read More...
Joe November 27, 2019 My Kenmore 110.87874800 gas dryer recently stopped working. Being of age, we decided to change the motor, belt, door switch and all three thermostats, fuse and cycling thermostat. The dryer ran like new for about one week. Tonight it just overheated and singed some bed sheets. Then stopped! Won't start. I am assuming it is the thermostat fuse. BUT, what would cause it to do this if all the parts were new? I checked, there is no lint blockage. NOTE: The high limit therostat replacement did not look anything like the original. Is it possible the part is wrong?
1 Answer Joe, The unit overheating would most likely be caused by either the vent being restricted going to the outside of your home or a faulty hi-limit thermostat. Read More...
Lori November 13, 2019 for Model Number LG7081XTW1 My dryer initially heats and then stops heating. Replace part number 694674 thermostat with no change in the performance of the dryer. Ohmed the thermal fuse and showed continuity. Part 61894 thermostat heater ohmed at 3.8. The dryer runs about 10 minutes before it stops heating. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Lori, if this is occurring during the automatic dry and not the timed dry, the most likely cause is from a detergent residue build-up on the sensor bars that can be cleaned using vinegar and a cloth to scrub the residue off. This is a common occurrence that happens over time from the detergent molecules left in the clothes collecting on the sensor bars when the clothes touch the bars. Read More...
Jim August 25, 2018 for Model Number 110.87983110 Good Morning, The dryer will fire the first time, then will not heat there after. I have replaced cycling tstat heater, wp61894 twice now. I got 2 loads out of the first one and it didn't make it through the first load on the second heater. When I replaced wp61894 the second time, I replaced the cycling tstat as well. The igniter comes on and when it calls for heat, but the gas valves don't open. could the cycle switch on the control panel be faulty causing too much current to get to the tstat heater causing it to fail? If im reading the diagram right, there are only a couple things in the gas valve circuit.
1 Answer Jim, I would replace the gas coils, they have to engage to open the gas valve to release gas into the burner chamber, part number is 279834 Read More...
Randy June 13, 2018 for Model Number 11086873800 In reference to part #61894, which is part of a two-piece operating thermostat with part #660039 (or WP694674), how does this part function? I get no change on the voltmeter when measuring ohms across the prongs of this part. Is this normal? Just don't understand... this part does not contain any kind of cylinder to house a switch, how is it important as part of the "operating thermostat"?
1 Answer Randy, This thermostat WP61894 is a thermostat heater and should have a resistance to it of around 10K ohms so make sure that you are setting the meter correctly. If it has no resistance then it is faulty and will need replaced. Read More...
Deb Dyer February 21, 2018 for Model Number LE7680SXW1 The cycling thermostat on this dryer has four wires. Do I need both of these parts to replicate that arrangement? WHIRLPOOL Thermostat (WP61894) $23.46 WHIRLPOOL Adjustable dryer cycling thermostat (WP694674) $31.48 Thanks for your assistance. Best regards, Deb
1 Answer Hello Deb, the thermostat heater will be part number WP61894 and the actual thermostat is part number WP694674. Thanks! Read More...
Bill January 09, 2017 for Model Number LE5535XPW0 What voltage should be at wires connected to thermostat heater. Am getting 7.5 at this time. Ohms are 2k on heater and if I heat thermostat with torch heating element will shut off but voltage sounds low
1 Answer Bill, This thermostat heater will have a resistance reading of between 3420 and 3960 ohms and when the heater shuts off should have a voltage reading of 120 vac Read More...
Bill February 29, 2016 for Model Number LE7680XSW2 Hello, could an open thermostat heater #61894 cause a dryer to only buzz or hum when the start button is pressed? - Thanks, Bill
1 Answer Hello Bill. No, you need to check the drum for binding or you have a bad motor in the dryer. Read More...
William S January 17, 2016 for Model Number Kenmore dryer 11087574120 My dryer's timer won't move in the auto dry settings. It will advance in the air dry and timed dry settings. I have checked and found that the flame cycles on and off as it heats, however, the timer won't advance in auto dry. I have replaced the timer and it still does the same thing. The thermostat seems be working, because, the flame cycles on and off in both low and high heat settings. What could the problem be?
1 Answer William, The most likely cause for this unit to not work on auto cycle would be a cycling thermostat or the thermostat heater. Read More...
