Wayne D. July 29, 2011 for Model Number MDE308DAYW Electric Dryer Maytag Dryer Model MDE308DAYW will not heat. I replaced the heater element and it still will not heat up. I noticed that the timer does not advance like when it did heat. Could this be a timer issue or a thermostat issue?
1 Answer Hello Wayne. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the thermal fuses WPW10116735 WP40113801 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Barb July 10, 2011 for Model Number DLE330RAW My dryer is running too hot even at the delicate less dry setting. Is this a thermostat issue? If so, which thermostat do I need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Barb. You will need to check the dryer vent and make sure it is clear and not restricted. If so, you will need to remove the vent from the back of the dryer and see if the temperature is cycling. On regular, it should read 110° to 155° +-10%. Then turn the unit to delicate see if it reads less. If not, test the selector switch. On delicate, it should be closed on L1-1 and L1-2 for continuity. If it is good, you will need to test the thermostat WP61623. It should read 2400 Ohms +- 240 Ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. 1 Answer Hello Ben! Does this happen on all cycles? If yes, is the dryer timer advancing? If it is not, the dryer will need to be replaced. Your timer part number is WP37001240. If it is not happening on all cycles, what cycles does this happen on? Thanks! Read More...
Dave July 02, 2011 for Model Number LEA30AW If the high Limit Thermostat fails, "located on the heating element plate" will it always fail open, or will it sometimes fail closed, allowing the dryer to over heat?
1 Answer Hello Dave. If it fails closed, the dryer will over heat. You can test the temperature coming out of the dryer and when it reaches the correct temperature, the thermostat should open. If not, you will need to replace the thermostat WPW10116735. Hope this helps. Read More...
