Millard August 20, 2020 for Model Number MEDC300BW0 Timer advances but only heats in the automatic setting.
1 Answer Millard, with the dryer unplugged, it would be recommended that the timer WPW10185982 is set to timed dry and tested for continuity from the terminal C to terminal A. If there is not continuity, the timer has failed and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Texased151 December 16, 2019 for Model Number NED4800VQ1 The dryer sometimes heats but most of the time it just runs through the cycle with no heat. The timer advances. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Tex, using a multimeter check that the dryer is getting 240v at the rear terminal block when running and not heating, if ok next check the timer contacts red (A) to Black (C) with the dryer running and not heating, if getting 240v then the internal contacts in the timer are faulty. The timer is part WPW10185982. Read More...
Andy December 15, 2019 My dryer won't shut off it will keep running no mater where u out the dial at if you put it on 60 minutes it will not move butt it will dry clothes think it is the dryer timer it is a Maytag centennial
1 Answer Hello Andy, we need the dryer's model number to be able to answer your question correctly, as some dryers are controlled by just a timer while others with auto dry have a separate part/circuit that controls the timer motor. If you would repost your question with the model number we will able to assist you. Read More...
Will July 07, 2019 for Model Number MEDC215EW1 Dryer works (heat, etc.) but timer does not advance in either timed or automatic mode. I assume the timer is bad. Anything else I should check before ordering a new timer module?
1 Answer Will, based on the information provided, the timer WPW10185982 would be the most likely cause of this. You may want to inspect the white/blue wire going to the timer motor from terminal T as well as the black wire on the timer motor for any breaks. If the wires check good, then the timer can be tested for 240VAC at the timer motor from the black wire to the white/blue wire with a multimeter. If there is 240VAC then this will verify that the timer is the issue. If there is not 240VAC, then you can test for 240 from terminal B to terminal X (on timed dry). If there is 240VAC at this test point, then there is a wiring issue in one of the wires going to the timer motor. Read More...
Michael May 24, 2019 for Model Number WED5100VQ1 My Whirlpool dryer dries clothes ok, although it has always seemed to take longer than it should to dry them. My latest problem is that the timer does not advance thus the dryer never shuts off. I have to set an alarm to remind me to stop the dryer by opening the door. I have forgotten many times and have had the dryer run for long periods of time which wastes a lot of electricity and $$$$$. I have replaced the door switch, the dryer cycling thermostat, and today I will replace the Dryer thermal fuse, which I suspect will be another waste of time and money. What shall I replace next? My guess is the next parts to replace (in order) will be; ; 1) Hi Limit Thermostat...2) Dryer thermal cut off kit...3) timer...This is based on what I have read on your website and the cost of the parts...Am I on the right track? Thank you for your help.
1 Answer Michael, select the timed dry setting(5 -10 minutes), if the dryer timer advances and shuts off, the timer is NOT the issue. If the thermal cut off was the issue the dryer wouldn't heat at all, the hi limit thermostat could be "weak" and you may want to replace it ? At this point, it sounds like you have an air flow, exhaust issue, a clogged vent, or vent hood or a vent system that's too long will cause the dryer to heat improperly, and cause the circuit to bypass the timer motor and the timer will not advance on the auto cycles properly. Scott March 01, 2019 for Model Number Maytag MEDC215EW1 dryer Maytag MEDC215EW1 dryer. Always use the timed dry mode. The timer will not advance, no heat. Tried automatic mode, no heat. I ordered and installed timer WPW10185982. Replaced timer, no change. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Scott, You should check the centrifugal switch in the motor for lint build-up and operation. This passes voltage to both the heating element and the timer motor. If there are no harness issues, this will be your issue. If cleaning the lint build-up does not correct the centrifugal switch operation, the motor assembly 279827 will need to be replaced to correct the issue. Read More...
Adam February 01, 2019 for Model Number WED4815EW1 The timer on my dryer will not advance on it own. The dryer still runs and heats up to dry. Just the timer is not working. My question is would it just be a matter of replacing the timer to fix the problem? Thank you for your time and assistance
1 Answer Adam, it is very possible that the timer motor is not advancing due to failure. If you test the wiring going to the timer motor, the timer motor should be receiving 120VAC. If it is getting the voltage and is not rotating, then the motor has failed and is causing the timer to not cycle through. Read More...
Joe October 05, 2018 for Model Number WED4815EW1 The timer on our whirlpool dryer won't advance. If we manually shut it off, the dryer works fine with automatic or timed settings. We changed the dryer cycling thermostat as a guess but that did not fix it. Would the timer itself be the next logical part to change?
1 Answer Joe, For this issue the timer would most likely be causing it to not advance. The part number for the timer is WPW10185982. Read More...
James M. May 14, 2018 for Model Number Ced137sxq0 I have a crosley dryer only gets hot on the auto dry side
1 Answer Hello James, it's possible that your internal timer contacts on part number WPW10185982 have failed. You can test timer terminal "A" to verify that it's putting out 120v to the heater on a cycle you get no heat. If you are not getting the voltage, the timer is defective, hope this helps!
