Wayne September 25, 2013 for Model Number roper red4440vq1 Dryer stopped mid cycle and would not restart. There is power to the plug. Is there and easy way to check to see if it is the timer that died?
1 Answer Hello Wayne. Test the thermal fuse and the door switch to see if they are the issue. More likely to be them instead of the timer. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Bobby September 04, 2013 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 Dryer will run in auto sense mode but element will not turn on. It will run properly in high and low heat settings but occasionally when timer reaches off position the element will turn off but the motor won't. Is this a timer issue. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Bobby, Try testing T to F and then T to X. You will be looking for either an open connection or, when the timer is spun around to close the contacts, connection with no resistance on both of these connections. If you show partial connection, the contacts are burned and sticking sometimes and not making connection sometimes. This would indicate a timer issue. The other thing that would fall into play is a operating (cycling) thermostat that has contacts that are burned. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Bill. Look for any loose wiring on the unit. Also, make sure the vent is clear and not kinked. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Theresa June 10, 2013 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 My dryer is heating, but stopping when on time set or auto set. I put it to dry for 30 minutes, came out 10 minutes later and it stop. Is this my timer issue? Thanks for your response.
1 Answer Hello Theresa. If the unit cools down and will start again, then the motor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Anthony May 28, 2013 for Model Number Model #AED4475TQ1 My Dryer was working great, then all of a sudden it wouldn't start. After messing with the setting dial/timer control the dryer started twice, then never again. The unit is only about 2 years old, and when you press the start button you can hear noise coming from the timer control. Its like it is trying to work, but something in the relay isn't allowing it to make the connection. Should I replace the timer, or is there something else I should check first?
1 Answer Hello Anthony. If you moved the timer and got the unit to start then you need to order and replace the timer on the unit. Read More...
Jason April 17, 2013 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 My dryers timer part # is W10185970. My dryers model # is RED4440VQ1. Will a part # W10185972 timer be compatible also? Will it work on my model of dryer?
1 Answer Jason, according to the model number RED4440VQ1 and the manufacturer listed replacement timer the part number is WPW10185972. If part number WPW10185970 came from the unit you should be able to use that. Thanks! Read More...
1 Answer Hello John. If there is no power coming from the timer to the heater during the cycles, you will need to replace the timer. The model number you provided is not working. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Roger S March 12, 2013 for Model Number roper RED4440VQ1 My timer is a W10185972 D Your timer is a W10185972 E.Are these interchangable ? snoderlys
Curt March 05, 2013 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 This dryer will not heat up at all. Tested all thermostats and they were good. Dryer has 4 different cycles, and will only start only in one of the cycles when start button is pushed. This sounds like a timer to me. Would you have a different opinion? Thank You, Curt
1 Answer Hello Curt, The timer WPW10185972 can be an issue as can the centrifugal switch 279827 in the motor. These and the door switch are the only things in the start circuit and the same set of contacts in the timer make in order to start the unit. I would open the unit and check the centrifugal switch for lint that might hamper its' ability to open and close. In light of the complaint you listed, either part can cause the issue. Read More...
Steve February 09, 2013 for Model Number re04440vq1 Part w10185972e....dryer runs and blower works well but very little heat. Heat shield is stamped 240v...input wires to dryer read 240 but heat coil teminal connectors only read 120v. All fuse/temp limiter and sensors and coil shows continuity. Could the timer/cycle selector unit be faulty?
1 Answer Hello Steve, You will want to go from either side of the heater and see which side you are loosing voltage. If you test each terminal to ground you will be able to determine this. There should be 120 vac to ground. If on the side of the thermostat then you would want to trace back to timer. If all checks ok then timer contact for heat circuit would be bad. Read More...
