Roxanne February 11, 2014 for Model Number red4440vq1 Hi my dryer won't start but when I push the start button it makes a buzzing noise but want start I'm thanking that it might be the timer but not sure can you help. thanks
1 Answer Roxanne, You will want to check to see if the motor is getting 120 vac when you are pushing the start switch. Another thing to do is to open the door and tape the door switch to the closed position, push the start switch and turn the drum. If the drum starts turning on its own then the start winding in the motor is bad. If not then the timer would be the most likely cause. Read More...

David January 25, 2014 for Model Number red4440vq1 Dryer stopped mid cycle. I checked the door switch and thermal cut off fuse.
1 Answer Hello David. Test the power coming to the unit and look for burnt or bad wiring on the unit. If all that is good, you will need to trace and see where your losing power at. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. David January 22, 2014 for Model Number admiral My electric dryer run and cycles, but no heat. I have checked out the heat coils, hi limit thermo fuse and thermostat all seem good. dont want to spend money on a bunch of parts I think there is only the motor and the timer left. The switch on the motor does make a complete circuit when pushed in manually. Please advise which path I should take to repair my dryer. thank you
1 Answer David, The best way to determine which side you are loosing power on it to disconnect 1 wire from the heating element. Then you will want to turn on the unit and test from each of the wires (continuing to leave one wire disconnected) to ground. There should be 120 vac on each line. If one of the lines does not have voltage then that is the side that is loosing power. If it is the side that goes to the thermal fuse and hi limit then it is the timer side and if it is the other wire then that would be to the motor. Read More...
Rafael January 18, 2014 When the timer is hit on dryer, it heats up but when they cycle starts it doesn't heat up.
1 Answer Hello Rafael. If the heat only works by hitting the timer, you will need to replace the timer on the unit. Read More...
Kenneth December 01, 2013 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 Our roper dryer will not heat or countdown on any selection (timed dry low heat, no heat fluff, timed dry high heat, auto sense dry high heat). It simply spins until I move the timer to the off position. Any suggestions on what may be the culprit?
1 Answer Hello Kenneth. The no heat is causing the timer not to advance. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Tony November 27, 2013 After drying a few loads of clothes without any problem, my wife checked on a load of clothes and they weren't dry so she thought they just needed to dry for another cycle. Pushed the start button and nothing. I ordered the thermal fuse and have replaced it. Still nothing. But I can hold in the start button and turn the timer button back and forth quickly and the dryer will sometimes start but will only run for a few minutes at most, and it is not heating. Does the seem like it could be the timer switch or motor? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Tony. It sounds like the motor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Leroy, If the timer continues to run and the dryer goes past the off position while running then the timer is the most likely cause of the failure WPW10185972. Read More...
Sandy O. October 27, 2013 for Model Number AED4475TD My wife emptied the dryer and tried to start another load. When you push the start button, nothing happens. No noise or anything. I replaced the door switch, the thermal fuse, and had the start button checked but still nothing happens. I had an electrician check the power plug and it's good. What's next? My dryer is only 4 years old?
1 Answer Hello Sandy, The only components you didn't check were the timer WPW10185972 and the motor 279827. The easiest way to test the motor is to reach inside the unit and spin the drum while holding the door switch and the push-to-start switch. If this doesn't cause the unit to start up, the timer is the issue. If it does start, the start winding in the motor has failed. Read More...
