Kevin February 25, 2012 for Model Number IED4400VQ1 I have checked the thermal fuse, door switch, and start switch, all working fine. How can I test the timer to see if it is bad?
1 Answer Hi Kevin. You may have a damaged timer contact. Check the timer for 120 VAC into the timer on terminal "C" (black wire) to chassis ground. Disconnect the wire on terminal "A" (red wire) check for 120 VAC from the terminal to chassis ground, with the dryer timer set in a heat cycle. 120 VAC on the "A" terminal, timer would be OK, and you probably have a damaged wire to the heater. No or low voltage on terminal "A" would indicate a bad timer contact. Timer part # WPW10185972. Thank You. Read More...
Teresa February 11, 2012 for Model Number RED4440VQ1 The plastic cam in the timer has a piece broken so it is making the timer not work properly. Can just the cam be purchased or do we have to purchase the entire timer?

Paula January 03, 2012 for Model Number NED5100TQ1 With the timer set anywhere on the cycle, pushing the start button gets a loud raspberry-type sound similar to end of cycle sound. This is the dryer of a tenant of mine having some hard times so we are trying to determine how to fix the dryer for her and her four children. I do not know what the end of cycle sound is on this dryer, only that the sound we are hearing while the start button is pushed sounds very like my dryer's end of cycle sound. Absolutely nothing sounds or happens when the start button is pushed with the door in open position. Our guesses include timer or push-to-start part. Any suggestions about how to trouble shoot this inactive dryer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and blessings for your kind assistance, Paula
1 Answer Hello Paula. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WPW10185972 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Jim January 02, 2012 for Model Number IED4400VQ1 My dryer doesn't heat and only starts on timed dry. The other cycles nothing happens. It also made a bad off balance noise till I adjusted the felt that the drum roles on. I checked the heating element, and thermostats for continuity which turned out fine. I took off one side of the hi-limit thermostat to check if I had 120v coming from the timer and the motor. The motor had 120v but the timer had like 5v while running. Is the timer bad? And do I need new felt.
1 Answer Jim, You may have a damaged timer contact. As for the felt seal and glides, if there was little to no damage to the felt seal, and glides, and you have everything back in it's proper position and smoothed out, you probably won't need the seal bearing assembly W11035878.
