The Dryer Timer is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It controls the drying cycles by regulating the duration and sequence of operations, ensuring that clothes are dried properly according to the selected settings.

Over time, the dryer timer can wear out due to regular use, electrical issues, or internal mechanical failures. A faulty timer can lead to cycles not starting or ending correctly, resulting in under-dried or over-dried clothes.

Symptoms of a bad Dryer Timer include:

  • The dryer not advancing through cycles
  • The timer not moving or stopping
  • Inconsistent drying times or the dryer stopping mid-cycle

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Lisa for Model Number MED5870TW0

My Maytag dryer will not heat again! I replaced the element back in January 2011 even though the problem was that a fuse in the electrical panel had blown (enough juice to turn and blow, but not heat dryer). I checked all fuses in back of dryer with my digital multimeter. All of them ranged between 0.00 and 0.01 except for the two brass colored points on the dryer cycle thermostat (has four points total)which don't register at all on the multimeter. Do you thing this could be the issue, or something more serious like the timer? Thanks in advance!

Hello Lisa. That is the cycling thermostat WP8318268 and it is testing good. You will need to trace and see where your losing voltage to the heater. It could be the motor 279827 or the timer. Make sure there is 240 volts coming to the dryer at the terminal block 279320. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello RK. Can you look on the blower housing for a thermal fuse? We show on the wiring diagram a thermal fuse but our part diagrams does not refer to one. Thanks!

Hello AJP. Check and see if your getting power to the timer motor while running. If so, then the timer will need to be replaced. The voltage will come and go based on the thermostat opening and closing. Hope this helps.
