Rick March 28, 2024 for Model Number 110.92586210 When in the spin cycle, it makes a loud noise and does not spin. Sounds almost like a race car. Replaced the neutral assembly in gear box. Did not help. Checked the coupler and it looks fine. What could it be? Appreciate your help.
1 Answer Rick,Based on the information provided start by checking the clutch, basket drive, and bearings. Read More...
Steve December 29, 2015 for Model Number 110.92588210 At your recommendation, I finally bought your timer and replaced it. The washer did exactly the same thing. It ran loud for 30 seconds or less and then quit. You could smell a "burning" smell it when it quit. I have now replaced the motor, the capacitor, and the timer. What is left? How about the "wash action" switch? I checked the shaft when I replaced the motor and it turned freely by hand. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Steve, This issue is normally caused by 120Vac being applied to two motor windings at the same time. This can be caused by a shorted harness, a bad speed selector switch, a bad motor, or a bad timer. This is the type of failure that will have to be traced with the wiring diagram from the unit and a test meter. I would start at the motor, looking for the two terminals receiving 120Vac. The time chart will indicate which should be receiving the voltage and the other one has to be traced back to the problem. Read More...
Steve September 19, 2015 for Model Number 110.92588210 The washer works fine on the heavy duty cycle, but stops during the regular cycle. I replaced the motor and coupling today and it still does the same thing. The motor sounds loud in the regular mode. I think I could smell it when it stopped the first time I tried it after installing the new motor. It didn't last a minute or two before it shut down. So, what do you think the problem is. The speed switch or the timer? Thanks
1 Answer Steve, It's most likely a problem in the timer WP3946475. There's a loose contact or a shorted spot on the cam, causing power to be supplied to both windings of the motor, causing it to make noise and overheat and trip the overload protector. Read More...
Bob November 02, 2014 for Model Number 11092588210 The washing mach. will fill, then nothing. I can move the timer to ANY position, still nothing. The lid switch is clicking, but it doesn't have to be actuated for the agitator to wash ( will not actuate). This same thing happened about 3 weeks ago, waited about 3 -4 hrs and then worked fine ---- for 3 weeks. This time I even unplugged the lid switch and jumped it direct at the connector ----- still nothing.
1 Answer Bob, You may want to remove the cabinet and check the capacitor WP8572717 to see if it has failed. Power from the timer is routed to the capacitor and from there to the motor. If the capacitor has failed, there's no power to the motor and it doesn't run. If the capacitor is OK, then check the motor coupler between the motor and gear case. Then replace the timer. it's the more likely issue. Read More...
Mike April 12, 2014 for Model Number 11092389200 OK guys you said to replace the lid switch, I did, no fix. Then the actuator, ???, no fix. Now the washer only works on the timed wash zones, none of the rinse or spin zones unless cycled there by the wash zone.
1 Answer Hello Mike. It looks like you did not know what the actuator was. It is the part that presses the switch. You said you could drop the lid and it worked. So that is why we suggested you check that part. Then you said it worked, stopped for about 10 min, then started back on it's own. This sounds like the motor is overheating. You will need to check that as well. As for the lid switch, I do not see where we suggested that to you, but see where you saw it in other answers and tried to see if that was the issue. I would suggest based on the problems you describe to check the motor and the actuator on the unit. Read More...
Mike April 09, 2014 for Model Number 11092389200 In the previous question, when the washer stops, it starts if I lift the lid and drop it. I have replaced the lid switch. The washer does finish its cycles after the unexplained delays.
1 Answer Hello Mike. If the lid switch is new, you may need to replace the actuator 350733. Read More...
Mike April 09, 2014 for Model Number 11092389200 The washer stops for a few minutes, (?), after washing 10 minutes. If left alone it will finally finish possibly stopping again at undetermined spots. I replaced the lid switch as indicated in most researched blogs. This did not work. Next?
1 Answer Hello Mike. It should stop before any spin cycles to all the unit to drain. However, if it is overheating, you will need to replace the motor on the unit. Read More...
Aaron November 19, 2013 for Model Number 110-92596100 I have a Kenmore 110-92596100 that stops every time it gets to the rinse cycle. It fills the tub, but then stops directly before the cycle that initiates the draining of the tub and the high spin to push the water out of the cloths. I recently ordered a new timer from you guys and when I installed it I still get the exact same problem. I tested my latch checking mechanism and everything checks out on the multimeter so I know that's not the problem. Also, when the machines stops, I can get it to start again, by pushing the knob in, turning it clockwise by just one click, and pulling the knob back out. Then the machine will correctly finish the cycle. Any other ideas for me?
1 Answer Aaron, The first check you need to make is at the lid switch assembly 285671 . The lid switch has to have a "closed" circuit, when the lid is down/closed or the washer will not drain and spin. If the lid switch checks proper, then replace the timer WP3946475 . Read More...
Steve October 21, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore model 110 92389200 When washing a load of clothes I have to manually change the cycle. It just started doing this over the weekend.
1 Answer Hello Steve. Test and see if there is power coming to the timer motor. If so, and the timer does not advance, replace the timer on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mary July 31, 2013 for Model Number 110.92596100 Hi: I've been dealing with what I believe is a timer issue. Whenever I wash a load of laundry the wash cycle stops and I need to spin the timer to rinse and then to dry. However last night when doing a load with cold water (I use warm water most of the time) the washer performed the way it should. Should I be looking for another part in addition to a timer or is this an entirely different problem overall?
1 Answer Mary, This issue does not sound like it would be the timer that is causing the issue. This sounds like it would be a bad temperature switch 3361222 that is causing the issue. Read More...
