This is the mechanical timer that controls the sequence and duration of wash, rinse, and spin cycles in the washing machine. It uses a small motor and a series of internal cams and contacts to advance through each stage of the wash program. Replace this timer if the washer gets stuck on one cycle, skips cycles, won't advance, or fails to start altogether.

For Whirlpool Washer Timer (Part Number: OEM18039225)

Zman for Model Number 11024944301

When I start the "Wash" cycle and the lid is closed, the machine starts to agitate immediately as the water is filling. The water stops filling at the correct level so I leave the lid open until water level is stops at the correct level. Machine continues to agitate until I close the lid and only then will the machine start the "wash" cycle. Then machine goes through the "Wash" cycle OK but will not drain unless I open and close the lid. During the "Rinse" cycle it continues to agitate (sometimes) and only stops agitating when the lid is opened, also it won't drain after the "Rinse" cycle unless the lid is opened. Next during the "Spin" cycle water is continually on. It drains the water out at the end of the "Spin" cycle (sometimes) but the clothes are soaking wet. Sometimes the water does NOT drain during the "Spin" cycle. I think it is the timer. What are your thoughts?

Hello Zman. It can be the pressure switch or the timer, mostly sounds like the timer except the fill issue is more like the pressure switch. It may be best to replace the timer and pressure switch on the unit.

Hello Rob, The issue is being caused by a bad cycle selection switch WP3954573. If you wiggle a switch that restores normal operation, even temporarily, the switch is normally the source of the issue.

Hello Jon. Yes, if the spin contact is stuck in the timer, and you set it on agitate, the power will be sent to both terminals of the motor and the motor will just hums. It sounds like the timer WP8541110 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.

David, Yes, it's most likely the timer WP8541110 based on your post, the timer motor has failed or the escarpment gears have stripped and won't advance the shaft/dial. Thanks and Good Luck

Lafayette, It could be a timer contact problem if, the washer is filling and spinning only in the spin cycle(s). Otherwise you need to start looking at the fill valve sticking open WP3979346 during the "spray rinse" portion of the spin cycle. Good Luck and Thanks
