Mike, Yes, this issue would be in the timer with it not spinning on only the regular cycle.

Jz78817 for Model Number KAWS750GQ1

Hi, I'm dealing with a KitchenAid KAWS750GQ1 (Whirlpool direct-drive) washer which has been causing a ton of problems lately. A little over a week ago, it decided not to agitate. The washer would fill to the correct level, water flow would stop, and then nothing else would happen. turning the timer knob around to the final "spin" region at least got it to drain and start spinning. We replaced the timer and for about 4 loads of laundry it worked normally. This morning, it stopped working again with the same symptoms. After filling with water to the correct level, the water flow shuts off but nothing else happens. The timer can be heard advancing (though it seems like it's advancing a lot faster than it should be.) The lid switch is currently bypassed with a jumper wire. When it should be agitating, I measure no voltage on any of the wires at the motor start switch, or the motor start capacitor. when we could get it to spin/drain, I measured expected AC voltage at the motor wires. So as far as it is now, I think: 1) it's not the lid switch because a) I've bypassed it and b) this model will agitate with the lid open anyway 2) it's not the water level switch because the water flow stops at the correct level and the timer starts advancing 3) it's not the drive motor, motor starting cap, or switch because there's no AC voltage on any of the pins when it's supposed to be agitating, nor is the motor humming or getting warm. Part of me thinks it's a bum timer but I don't want to just replace it if something else in the washer might be over-stressing it. Thank you

Hello jz78817. Based on all the information you provided, everything is pointing to a bad timer on the unit.

Pat, You will want to check the motor coupler to make sure that it is not bad if the unit is not agitating or spinning. If the unit is agitating and spinning but not advancing then the timer WP3952888 would be at fault and need to be replaced.

Hello Kevin, There are no publications on the timer assembly since it isn't considered a serviceable component. The only fix for this is the timer replacement. I would have looked it up for you, but the model number wasn't provided. You can call in to our toll free number and one of our representatives can look it up for you or you can re-post with the full, valid model number.

Ken, Based on your post description, sure sounds like a timer issue WP3952888. You can test the timer motor for a resistance reading or voltage (120 VAC) across the tan and white/black wires on the timer wiring harness block. it usually checks OK, and winds up being a mechanical failure in the timer itself.

Mark S. for Model Number KAWS750-GQ1

My washer works but it will not advance from one function to the next. I have to push in the knob and advace the dial by hand and then pull out the knob to start the next part of the wash cycle. I know I need a new timer. The timer part number in the machine is 3952888. Your web search says part number AP3083779 but the description says "(motor not serviced)" What does that mean? Is this a new timer with a new motor? That is what I want to order. Thanks Mark

Hello Mark. Yes, WP3952888 is a new timer with a new motor. "Motor not serviced" means if the motor is bad, you will need to replace the timer, and not just the timer motor. Hope this helps.
