This part is a timer that has been manufactured by Whirlpool for use with certain laundry centers. The timer controls the length of the different laundry center cycles. If the timer is faulty, including becoming detached, warped, corroded, or otherwise rendered ineffective, the user may notice that the cycles do not run for their intended amount of time or some cycles may not start at all. Check the timer for continuity using a multimeter to determine if it needs to be replaced. Before starting any repairs, always make sure the appliance is completely disconnected from the power source. As a genuine OEM part, this part has been sourced directly from the manufacturer and is only sold individually. This timer is manufactured from high quality and durable materials to ensure sturdiness and reliability. It is intended for use with certain laundry centers that have been manufactured by brands that include Whirlpool, Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Norge, and Admiral.

For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18018897)

James Breedlove for Model Number Maytag Neptune stacked washer dryer.

I recently purchased and installed a WHIRLPOOL Timer Part #: AP6006296 (WP22002452) Order #11424486 . It fits and is the correct part number. But I still have the same problem so I diagnosed it wrong and am not asking to return the part. Problem: On all 3 washer cycles types (normal, delicate, perm press) the timer stops when it has to transition from wash to rinse and rinse to spin, the timer stops and has to be manually moved. So, any ideas on what micro-switch I need to replace? thank you.

James In order to provide most accurate advice, we need the complete model and serial numbers of the unit.

My stacked Neptune washer will continue through cycles without stopping. If we wash a load on easy care, the cycle will run but not stop at the end. It will continue on and start over in the regular cycle. It will continue through the cycles until the Off button is pressed. Also, at times, the Timer gives a very loud ticking sound. Sometimes, the fabric softener is not empty. I have looked at the control board and nothing is burned on the board. Does this sound like a timer problem?

1 Answer

Fred, A timer problem, Probably Not. Power to the timer motor is supplied by the blue wire in the P7 connector on the washer machine control board, that's the more likely issue. The timers can be noisy and make a variety of different noises, but as long as the timer advances and operates, it's generally OK. So recheck the connectors and wires at the control board, then replace it even if it looks OK. As for the softener dispenser not empty. That is normally due to a lack of cold water. You will want to disconnect the fill hoses from the faucet and the machine, flush the faucets, and clean the hose and valve debris screens of any sediment or debris. You can also remove the cup from the dispenser, and pour a couple of cups of hot water into the dispenser body to flush out any residual softener build up in the dispenser and hoses.

Gena, Based on the information the timer would be the most likely cause for this issue to occur.

Leonard for Model Number Maytag Neptune MLE2000AYW (stacked)

Washer (MHW2000AWW) cycles properly through all wash and rinse cycles but fails to stop after the final rinse. After the water has drained after the 3rd or 4th (extra) final rinse, the washer continues to "agitate" as if it is still in a washing cycle. The washer must be stopped by depressing the "Washer Start/Stop" button & waiting for the "Door Locked" lamp to go out. This "non-stopping" behavior occurs in every wash mode (Regular, Delicate, Permanent Press). In your estimation, does this call for the replacement of the Electronic Control Board (Timer) #22002452? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Leonard, Yes, based on the information provided it does sound like the issue would be caused by a control board that is faulty and would need to be replaced.

My washer does not move through the rinse/spin cycles. It goes through the wash cycle then stops. We have to move the control to the rinse and it fills up but stops in the spin cycle. The washer does not drain the water out on its own but will drain if we manually move the wheel. All the motors and pumps seem to work properly but the automatic function seems to have stopped working. I know this is probably not a good description of the problem but let me know via e-mail if you need more info. thanks, rick

Rick, You will want to check the latch assembly for a bad wax motor and check the control board to make sure that the R11 resistor is not burnt.

Steve, If the unit is stopping at the exact same time then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty time contact which would require a new timer.

Hello Robert, This can be one of several things. It can be water in the supply lines, a bad connection between the control and the water inlet valve, or a bad water valve WP22002437.

Chuck, Apparently you have a MTG "Neptune" stacked laundry system ? Power to the timer motor is supplied from the "machineControl" board, located in the right front corner of the dryer cabinet. The voltage is intermittent, and is controlled through inputs from the sensors and switches,in the washer. We'll send you some information, and you may want to get your hands on a multimeter to test the circuits TJMA-DM1 it'll be less expensive in the long run.
