What is a sure way to test the lid switch .I see on diagram of the NO and NC postions but it says ohm meter will not test it. I took it off but its sealed. Also trying to determine if motor is even good. Pulley will turn along with belt at all three pulleys. Not sure water switch is good. Not sure what my main problem is. Thinking its got to be timer. On again off again problems with washer stopping with water in it and this time I am unable to do anything to make it run.

Hello Jeff, The way that you would test the lid switch 12001908 is to measure resistance between L1 (line)and SW (machine) terminals. You should have continuity with lid open or closed. L1 (Line) to M (motor) with lid open No continuity and with lid closed no continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Steve. You need to turn all the pulleys under the washer and make sure the pump pulley turns freely and the thrust bearing is releasing the brake to spin the unit. If not, you will need to replace the part that is bad. If all the pulleys are good, you may have a timer issue with the unit. It should be worth repair if the unit is in good shape.

Paul for Model Number MAV6250AWW, Atlantis

I am having problems with my washer. It would fill, agitate clear thru all the cycles, leaving a tub full of water. If I turned the knob to rinse or spin, I could drain and spin out the water. I replaced the lid switch and adjusted it according to the instructions included so no problems there. On colors setting the washer worked great up until final rinse where the tub filled and and did not drain or spin out. The dial went to off. Now if I lift the lid at the end or push the button in and pull it out, I would have triggered the final drain and spin. White mode was a mess. Think it agitated celar to off and left a tub full of sudsy water. Delicates mode worked, surprise, great! No problems. Hit all the cycle, soaks, and drain points spot on. The timer, I suspect is faulty, maybe a short somewhere that is thowing it off on some cycles. This washer is 12 years old and not wanting to throw too much money into it so is this problem the timer? I would like to fix this myself, since it is relatively easy to do myself but will not hesitate buying a new washer tomorrow if this is not the solution. Thanks in advance!
