This timer is a direct-replacement control that advances cycle timing and sequencing for compatible appliances, restoring intended cycle progression and duration. Use it to replace a worn or non-advancing cycle timer. What it does:

  • Advances and times cycles so the appliance completes selected programs for the correct duration.
  • Controls sequencing between functions (start, run, end) to ensure expected operation.
  • Common symptom fix: cycles that won't advance, stop mid-cycle, or run for incorrect lengths.
  • Restores reliable mechanical/electrical timing when the original timer fails.
What's included: One timer assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power (unplug or shut off breaker) before starting any repair to avoid shock.
  • Access typically requires removing the control panel; keep track of screws and wiring or photograph connections before disconnecting.
  • Handle carefully to avoid bending shaft/gear or damaging electrical contacts.

For Whirlpool Timer (Cycle Control) (Part Number: OEM18022665)

Bruce for Model Number Maytag DE312

Okay, When on the auto settings, the timer doesn't start "clicking" until it reaches the cool down spot on the timer. It does start clicking when on the time setting. I took the vent apart all the way to the window and cleaned everything and did not find any clogs along the way. Also took the top apart and vacuumed all around the timer switch and any other connections. Put all back together and moved the timer to the auto setting and again, still does not start clicking till it reaches the cool down spot on the switch. Any other thoughts?

Hello Bruce. If the timer does not move on the timed dry, then yes, you will need to replace the timer WP305973. If it works on timed dry, but not on auto dry, you will need to check the vent and make sure it is not clogged. Hope this helps.
