Daniel August 15, 2019 for Model Number MDE6200AYW No problems with dryer prior to this. Turning the dial turns on the heating element with out pressing the start button but motor will not run after pressing start button. Drum turns freely with no humming or smell from motor. I was thinking timer because of 2 problems. Thanks for the help.
1 Answer Hello Daniel, it sounds as if the heater element may have grounded to the case, that would allow the heater to come on without the motor starting if the timer is turned away from the "off" setting. Also, an overheat condition caused by the grounded element would have opened one or both of the safety thermal fuses that are in-line to the motor from the timer, They are located on the blower housing and on the heater case, they have grey wires going to them ,they can be checked for continuity with a multimeter. George July 23, 2015 for Model Number LDE8416ACE The timer doesn't advance in Regular setting on regular or delicate heat. It does advance in Regular setting on air fluff and also in wrinkle release and easy care setting. I checked that the exhaust vent is clear and cleaned and shortened the exhaust tube. could it be the thermostat is faulty? thanks
1 Answer Hello George. It sounds like the unit is not heating or the cycling thermostat is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Check all of the heating components on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Timmy June 12, 2014 for Model Number Maytag MDG6200AWW When putting on timed setting, it advances very slowly taking about 2 hours to stop running when set on 30 min. When putting on autodry setting, it doesn't advance at all. I've checked the venting and even run the dryer with vent tube removed with same problem. Is this the control timer that needs replacing? Thanks!

Ken November 11, 2013 for Model Number Maytag MDG 6200AWW I have a Maytag Atlantis gas dryer. When I turn the timer knob to any position and then push the start button, the buzzer always goes off and the dryer will not start. Is this maybe a timer problem? Thanks.
Jenni May 25, 2013 for Model Number MDG6200AWW My dryer timer does not advance when you have it seton AutoDry settings unless you turn it to the "cool down" or "less dry" positions on the dial. If I set it in time dry it advances normally. The timer ticks in the Time dry cycle and the cool down cycles when the dryer is not running put the timer is not in the off position. I thought it ticked throughout the Autodry cycles but now only does it in the cool down or less dry settings This is the same problem my dryer is having. You had suggested to this person that it was an exhaust problem. We have checked and that is not the problem. Any other suggestions?.
1 Answer Jenni, This issue would be caused by some type of venting issue in which the dryer vent may be too long, the blower wheel may have heavy lint build up on it or the ducting has heavy lint build up. Read More...

1 Answer Carol, the first thing to do is disconnect the exhaust vent, from the back of the dryer and run a load of clothes through a cycle and observe the timer advance on the auto dry cycle. Your description is classic for a exhaust vent issue( clogged , kinked or vent hood issue). Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Greg L. September 20, 2011 for Model Number sdg2606aww You asked me to check the terminal block for proper 240vac,my dryer runs on gas/120 vac. So my question again is timer does not move and stays on blowing cold air?
1 Answer Hi Greg. Please accept our apologies, I misread the model #. If The dryer runs and won't heat then you need to check the igniter to see if it is glowing white hot. It should read 50-800-ohms cold. Igniter part # is WP37001308. Clean your vent and vent cap/hood assy. outside entirely. The timer is part # WP33001632. Thank you. Read More...
