Roger T March 27, 2013 for Model Number LA5558XSW0 My clothes washer will no longer run the empty or spin-dry cycles in any mode (regular, perm. press etc.), fill and agitate work fine, not sure if it's most likely the timer, or if a dedicated motor winding or other part may have gone out on me. Does that generally tend to be the timer? I can read schematics and follow wiring paths just fine. Thanks.
1 Answer Roger, Since the unit is not draining or spinning then you want to check the drain pump for being seized or clogged. If the water never pumps out the unit will not go into the spin cycle. Read More...
Don July 20, 2012 for Model Number LA5558S I need the timer. My part number is 33671811. You show part number AP3099903. Is this the same as mine? Thanks, Don
1 Answer Hello Don, The timer you are looking for comes up in our system by model number LA5558XSW0 as part number WP3946430. This should be the same as yours if the model you were looking at is correct. If the part number you show came off of the old part, it is probably a manufacturing number, which cannot be crossed. Scott June 11, 2012 for Model Number LA555OXTWO My wash does not start. I have checked the lid switch with an ohm meter and the capacitor with a meter for capacitors, both ok. The wiring diagram is pasted on the inside of the rear panel thus I can only read a portion of it. My thought was to check the timer next yet I'm not sure. Thank you
1 Answer Hi Scott. See if you do have 120 vac at the cord itself as it enters the control panel back. Make sure the terminals have not burned out on the ends. Follow the power to positive hot lead (not the ribbed cord-neutral-) and see if it has 120 vac between it at the timer and ground. If it does, then does the timer motor itself have 120 vac to its leads as the timer is pulled out in a normal cycle. Can you physically see the timer rotor spinning through the back of the timer motor back ? If so and the timer does not pass the voltage then suspect the timer to be a issue. Timer part # WP3946430. Thank you. Read More...
1 Answer Booger, You probably don't want to start at the timer. Check and make sure theres nothing small stuck between the inner and outer tubs. The pump sounds like it's working, so you'll need to check the motor coupler 285753A clutch 285785 here's some help,[http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/3265-replacing-direct-drive-washer-brake-shoes.html] Good Luck Read More...
Jim J. September 21, 2011 for Model Number WHIRLPOOL LA5500XTW0 The washer has two cycles. It will get thru the first cycle but will not spin out. If you put it on the second cycle it will not wash but will only spin out. Is this the timer switch?
1 Answer Hello Jim. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WP3946430 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
