Tony W. September 01, 2014 for Model Number LA5558XSW0 Hi: My washer occasionally stops mid-cycle. I'm pretty sure it's the timer. However, the original parts list shows a timer and a timer motor. But I only see a Timer in your parts list. Does this one part take the place of the original two parts: timer and motor? Thanks, Tony
1 Answer Tony, the timer motor is no longer available separate from the timer assembly part number WP3946430. Thanks. Read More...
Jrm April 09, 2014 for Model Number LA5500XSWO Whirlpool Washer Washer control advances to mid point of spin cycle, it then stops, it will finish spin cycle if it is advanced a coupla of clicks. I am wondering if the control is bad.
1 Answer JRM, When the unit stops if you are immediately clicking the timer a couple of clicks and it restarts then the timer would be the issue. If not then you will want to pull the inner tub and check for something being caught between the tubs causing drag and causing motor to overheat. Read More...

Blue January 12, 2014 for Model Number LA5580XTW1 My washing machine (model #LA5580XTW1) will not empty or spin dry in the permanent press and gentle cycles, only in the regular cycle. Could this be the Timer (I believe it's part # AP3099903)?
1 Answer Hello Blue. it could be the timer, or the motor slow speed is bad and the motor will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Moe October 11, 2013 for Model Number LA5558XTW2 I purchased a new timer (part no. 3946430) to replace the old timer (part no. 3351811B) on my washer (model no. LA5558XTW2). The new timer does not have the threaded mounting holes like the original timer has. Is this a defective part or has the way that it should be mounted change?
1 Answer Moe, You have the correct part number WP3946430. Things have changed. The original timer [3351811] probably had threaded stand offs. The new timer wouldn't have these, and the timer body has pre drilled holes in the housing in the same location as the stand offs. you'll find it a bit easier to partially install the mounting screws into the timer holes, before you install the timer.
